What Is the Release Date for Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold? At Tokyo Fanfest 2026 on Saturday, October 31st, Square Enix announced that Evercold will release on Tuesday, February 23, 2027. Early access starts Friday, February 19th. Pre-orders for the collector’s edition, which grants early access, will open on Wednesday, November 4th at 9:00 am GMT. Square Enix said FFXIV has reached over 35 million registered users.
During the keynote, FFXIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) addressed fans. He announced Evercold’s release is delayed to give it more time. He seemed confident and apologetic, and assured fans the FFXIV team was doing its utmost to ensure Evercold would be top quality. Let’s dive in.

We finally have the full Evercold trailer. FFXIV main story quest (MSQ) is popular for a reason, leaving modern WoW’s story in the dust. We’re entering the Godless Realms Saga. Some fans even say FFXIV is better than World of Warcraft. The trailer has so much action. The music is on point. Evercold is leading FFXIV to new heights. Because the surface of the fourth reflection has been frozen for 500 years, the population has evolved separately on each realm ship since they can’t interact.
Evolution is a major theme. In fact, Yoshi-P said that Evercold is about the evolution of FFXIV. Both new jobs, Zephyr and Bastion, will use Evolved Mode exclusively. New Jobs And Characters
Zephyr is the new ranged DPS job. The job uses a crossbow. Visna is a Zephyr. She’s an adorable pink-haired Miqo’te girl introduced in patch 7.56.
Zephyrs are extremely mobile. They use their arcane avian companion, a Nephele, to aid them in battle and coordinate attacks. Zephyrs exclusively use the new Evolved mode of combat.
They originate from Ilsabard’s northwestern mountains. Journey to Gridania after Evercold launches to pick up the new Zephyr job. Begin your quest at level 90. The level cap is increased to 110.
Yoshi-P gave us the names of two new characters. The Roegadyn character is named Baldr. His job is the new tank job, Bastion. He’s the leader of the realmship of fire, Hringhorni. We also know the name of the elezen woman who resembles Ysayle. Her name is Lagertha, and she’s the second-in-command on the realmship of water, Naglfar.
New Zones, Systems, And Things
Players can now complete the story zones in any order. This will diversify the player experience, and dungeon enemies will adjust to the player’s level. Flexibility is important in Evercold. FFXIV is moving away from a daily system. Now players will have a weekly system to interact with. Player choice is important. Doing in-game content increases your activity level, which lets players unlock rewards. Two patches will now count as a season, with no additional fees.
Fans were introduced to that Berlin Fanfest, Sessrymnir, and Wind, Skidbladnir. New player hubs were revealed. Fargath was revealed at the Berlin Fanfest. Hjartadunur is new. New jumping puzzles will challenge players in the player hubs. Eight-player raids will have a moderate difficulty called Fierce. The Fierce mode will release a week after Savage. New battle content called the Gauntlet of Power will allow players to fight dungeon bosses in 4-man groups. Players don’t have to be the same level to group up.
Grouping for instanced content will be easier. Same region mapping is coming Tuesday, November 10th, for North American and European data centers, after 24 hours of maintenance. This will make it easier to find groups. Players only need to be in your region, not just your data center.

The Collector’s edition is available in limited quantities. Included is the physical Collector’s Box and a code for the digital download of the game for Windows, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. Players who pre-order FINAL FANTASY XIV: Evercold from participating retailers will be eligible to receive the following bonuses:
- Early Access – Early access is tentatively scheduled to begin on Friday 19th February, 2027 at 9:00 a.m. (GMT) and will allow users to play Evercold ahead of the official release.
- In-game Item: Halone’s Earring – This useful earring features attributes that will vary according to the user’s class/job and current level when equipped. Additionally, the earring grants a 30% increase in EXP gained by defeating enemies when worn, perfect for leveling your jobs to 100.
- In-game Item: Wind-Up Köttr Minion

Housing updates are coming. Players will be able to hang objects in mid-air. Yoshi-P said the team is looking at expanding the available housing options. Player vs. Player (PvP) combat now has the Hall of the Novice.
The eight-man raid series is based on Final Fantasy VII and is called Beyond the Life Stream. The 24-man raid series is based on the popular anime Evangelion. Raids are seeing some changes. Eight-man raids have three difficulties. And 24-man raids are going to be divided. This should make raids take less time.
Changes include Chocobo Breeding, glamour, armory system updates, character action skins, and new character customization options. End-game gear is divided into seasonal and raid gear. Yoshi-P will discuss all of these changes in future live letters.
