Blizzard Entertainment News: Founder Leaving

Edit (10/9/2019): Blizzard has placed themselves on the wrong side of history with their decision to suspend Blitzchung from the Hearthstone Grandmasters tournament. Check out this article on more information about the Hong Kong protests and how you can help.

Hey guys! I’ve got some sad Blizzard Entertainment news. Frank Pearce, one of the co-founders, is leaving Blizzard Entertainment. He and the current president of Blizzard, J. Allen Brack posted statements on Blizzard’s official website yesterday.

I’m sad to hear another co-founder is leaving. When Frank Pearce, Allen Adham, and Michael Morhaime founded Silicon and Synapse in 1991, which would later be called Blizzard Entertainment, they were hoping to create games for gamers by gamers. These young UCLA graduates had no idea they were going to launch one of the most successful and epic video game companies in the world.

Blizzard Entertainment has created several huge franchises within the last 28 years, including World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, and many others.

It’s clear from the discontent from fans, that Blizzard Entertainment news has changed a lot since it’s a merger with Activision years ago. In the World of Warcraft fandom, it’s difficult because players can feel the company has shifted focus from gamers having fun, to the company meeting the bottom line.

Sometimes we can feel the strain as we play the game. It can be as simple as Blizzard’s stance on Flying in the game, you can see my post about the hot button topic within the WoW community. Other times, it’s how the company handles issues such as Master Loot in groups, or time-gating story-driven content.

Thank You Frank and Everyone at Blizzard Entertainment

I wish Frank Pearce good luck in his retirement. He’s worked at Blizzard Entertainment for 28 years and he’s earned his freedom. In older Blizzard Entertainment news, Mike Morhaime another Blizzard co-founder, also left the company last year.

Despite the sad Blizzard Entertainment news, I’d like to thank Frank Pearce, Allen Adham, and Michael Morhaime for creating Blizzard, and most importantly for creating World of Warcraft. If it wasn’t for this game, I wouldn’t have made so many awesome friends throughout the years.

Games are replaceable, but memories are priceless.

Despite my current issues with the game, I’m grateful the game is still online. I hope Allen Adham won’t be leaving the company any time soon.

By the way, BlizzCon 2019 is right around the corner, so share your predictions on the next WoW expansion and future Blizzard Entertainment News.

Happy Hunting!
