World Of Warcraft Shadowlands Expansion Leak May Be Real

The last week has been full of World of Warcraft Shadowlands Expansion leaks. BlizzCon 2019 begins on Friday so leaks were bound to happen. It was only a few months ago when the Shadowlands leak first appeared on the interwebs as a possible expansion. Now we’ve found a screenshot of the Lich King Bolvar looking menacing and super epic. The image was removed from Blizzard’s online store, but it hasn’t stopped everyone from speculating like crazy.

Shadowlands seems like the most likely choice. There’s been a lot of death-themed hints in the game lately. Death is talked about as if it’s a character we’ve yet to meet. Sylvanas mentioned that even N’Zoth would eventually serve Death.

Now a Shadowlands expansion is exciting. It feels like it’d be a Wrath of the Lich King 2.0. On the one hand, we’ve done this plot before, but on the other hand, I’m intrigued to see where it’s going. Bolvar isn’t like Arthas. There’re times Bolvar appears to be helping us, but then it’s easy to wonder if he’s got his own agenda. It’s entirely possible that the Lich King won’t be the next villain. All of these leaks and all of the hype could be a distraction from the real big bad.

When Battle for Azeroth started the faction war appeared to be the villain. In other words, whichever faction you weren’t apart of was going to be the problem. As we know for Patch 8.3 we’re fighting N’Zoth as a final villain. This makes me wonder if Blizzard wants us to believe the Lich King is the next villain, but what if the next villain is Death itself?

So, let’s talk about that picture, shall we? The Lich King looks so cool! However, his eyes are so the wrong color. Which is why fans were doubtful when the picture first surfaced a few days ago. I’m hoping we can wield his weapon. I wonder where he got it. Is it cursed like Frostmourne was?

It’s possible the Helm of Domination has finally taken control of him. Maybe Bolvar isn’t all there anymore. The in-game timeline makes me believe it’s been about nine years since we knocked Arthas off his throne. That’s more than enough time for the helm to corrupt Bolvar in deadly ways.

Bolvar is certainly not bound to the Frozen Throne anymore. Maybe Ogmot’s dream journal was referring to Bolvar when it said “Bound by dat throne? No. Free. Free!” At first, I wondered if Ogmot was talking about Sargeras, but Bolvar is looking pretty free and strutting his stuff as of this leaked screenshot.

Now this image appeared on the official Blizzard site but it was taken down. Which makes the Shadowlands leak even more likely to be true. It looks like we’ll be visiting a new land called Bastion. There’s also a mention of a new race called Kyrian. The castle has a similar art style to the Sylverian Dreamer mount. There’s a theory that mounts are introduced on the Blizzard store an expansion before the expansion they debuts. Maybe that theory is right in this case.
