    Blizzard Breaks Silence On Hong Kong Hearthstone Controversy And Blitzchung Suspension

    Today, Blizzard Entertainment breaks silence on Blitzchung controversy to suspend the eSports player for a year. This is regarding the incident which occurred on Oct. 6 at the Hearthstone Grandmasters tournament. President of Blizzard Entertainment, J. Allen Brack, posted a statement on Blizzard’s official website. Blizzard is going to return Blitzchung’s prize winnings, and they will lower his suspension to six months instead of a year.

    Bltizchung was suspended after winning the Hearthstone Grandmasters. During the post-game interview, the professional eSports player wore a mask and said: “Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our time”. Blizzard also suspended the shoutcasters too.

    Worldwide fans responded with anger. Blizzard had positioned themselves on the wrong side of the conflict by siding with China and denying Bltizchung his freedom of speech. The company also wasn’t remaining true to its core values. Which Brack addressed in his letter. Blizzard’s core values are Think Globally, Lead Responsibly, and Every Voice Matters.

    Blizzard President J. Allen Brack said:

    At Blizzard, our vision is “to bring the world together through epic entertainment.” And we have core values that apply here: Think Globally; Lead Responsibly; and importantly, Every Voice Matters, encouraging everybody to share their point of view. The actions that we took over the weekend are causing people to question if we are still committed to these values. We absolutely are and I will explain.

    Blizzard Breaks Silence On Blitzchung’s Controversial Ban

    alt="jade forest"/>

    Brack’s letter also explained the role of the shoutcasters. Their job is to amplify the excitement for the game and to keep the audience focused on the game. Which explains why Blizzard suspended them.

    The letter explains why eSports competitions exist. ESports competitions are for players around the world to come together and share their love for gaming. He emphasized the importance of protecting the integrity of the eSports channels, and also reassured Blizzard fans that the companies connection to China had little to do with their decision.

    Brack said:

    The specific views expressed by blitzchung were NOT a factor in the decision we made. I want to be clear: our relationships in China had no influence on our decision.

    According to Brack, their goal was to protect the integrity of the tournament. They didn’t want to risk alienating fans because of divisive political views. Blizzard listened to the fanbase and realized they acted too quickly. They reevaluated the decision and decided that Blitzchung ‘played fair’ during the tournament, which means he deserved his prize money.

    Major Protests Planned For BlizzCon

    alt="blizzard breaks silence on blitzchung controversy - dalaran"/>

    Blizzard’s response may have come too late. A coalition of gaming activists is planning a protest for BlizzCon. The nonprofit activist’s group, Fight For Freedom, is organizing the protest from GamersForFreedom.com. The website is being used to keep track of companies that have pledged to not censor players. They’re calling for players to protest at BlizzCon on November 1st.

    In a statement, Evan Greer, the deputy of Fight For Freedom expressed his thoughts.

    “Blizzard, and other companies who are engaging in censorship on behalf of an authoritarian government, are not going to get away with it. They have no idea what kind of Internet shitstorm they’ve unleashed. We’re going to make an example out of them to make sure that all companies know that throwing human rights and free expression under the bus to make some extra money will not be tolerated.”

    Dayton Young, who’s the Product Director of Fight for Freedom said:

    “Gamers deserve to know which companies are willing to engage in censorship on behalf of authoritarian regimes and which companies will defend basic freedom of expression.

    Fight For Freedom exists to protect players. More updates concerning the protest are coming soon.

  • Fans Boycott Blizzard After Hearthstone Player Blitzchung Is Suspended Due to Hong Kong Politics

    Fans Boycott Blizzard After Hearthstone Player Blitzchung Is Suspended Due to Hong Kong Politics

    UPDATE: Blizzard has broken their silence on the controversy. They’re returning Blitzchung’s winnings to him, and lowering his suspension to six months.

    Fans boycott Blizzard Entertainment after the company suspended Hearthstone eSports gamer Chung Ng Wai aka “Blitzchung”, who’s a Hong Kong native after he spoke out in support of the Hong Kong protests. Blizzard Entertainment removed him from the tournament, took away his $10,000 prize money, and suspended him for a year. The incident occurred on Oct. 6 in Taiwan during the Asia-Pacific Hearthstone Grandmasters tournament. During the official Hearthstone Twitch stream of the event, Chung was interviewed by two eSports casters when he voiced his opinion. Blizzard not only suspended Chung, but they also terminated the two casters interviewing him. Chung wore a mask during the interview because Hong Kong has banned wearing masks in public.

    Chung said, “Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our time” during the Twitch stream. This is a slogan used in Hong Kong for the protest. What’s disturbing about Blizzard suspending him, is the fact that they’ve bowed to China’s censorship.

    Why Hong Kong Residents Are Protesting?

    alt="World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 - legion"/>

    Residents of Hong Kong are protesting because mainland China is trying to exert control over its democratic political system. The British handed over Hong Kong to Beijing in 1984. This happened under the Sino-British Joint Declaration. At that time China had promised to grant Hong Kong autonomy. Ever since then, the Chinese Communist Party has tried to exert its control of Hong Kong by trying to make things less free and less fair. They’ve also tried to take over Hong Kong’s politics.

    The United States has treated Hong Kong as a separate entity from China since 1992. Under the 1992 Hong Kong Policy Act, the US treats Hong Kong differently in matters of trade. Now, China is exploiting the US’s trade deal with Hong Kong to get around the US export controls, customs duties, and sanctions. For America, it’s become an issue of National Security because the Chinese government is also conducting influence and espionage operations.

    According to Blizzard, Chung violated their Terms of Service (ToS) by speaking out.

    Blizzard released this statement regarding the suspension:

    Engaging in any act that, in Blizzard’s sole discretion, brings you into public disrepute, offends a portion or group of the public, or otherwise damages Blizzard image will result in removal from Grandmasters…

    Chung made a statement on his personal Twitch account:

    “Today I lost Hearthstone, it’s only a matter of four years,” he said. “But if Hong Kong lost, it’s a matter of a lifetime.”

    Boycott Blizzard- Why You Should Care?

    alt="boycott blizzard - grizzly hills"/>

    Fans have shown their support for Chung and the Hong Kong protests by canceling their game subscriptions. We should care because freedom and democracy are being threatened. As an American, it breaks my heart to see Blizzard giving in to China’s censorship. Blizzard has core values that they ‘claim’ to represent. A few Blizzard employees covered them up yesterday.

    Fans also expressed support by boycotting Blizzard and canceling their game subscriptions.

    How Is Blizzard Connected To China?

    alt="howling fjord"/>

    Blizzard is connected to a Chinese gaming company called Tencent. Tencent is the world’s largest gaming company. It’s on the scale with Facebook and Google in terms of internet and Entertainment. Tencent is considered one of the world’s largest social media companies. Their many services include social networks, web portals, music, internet services, mobile games, payment systems, e-commerce, smartphones, and multiplayer online games. Now Tencent only owns a 5% stake in Activision Blizzard which means they technically have no power of company decisions, but Tencent is the major entertainment source in China. Tencent hosted Call of Duty Online. In 2012, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick announced the strategic partnership with the company.

    Kotick said in a Activision Blizzard press release in 2012:

    “We are very excited about our relationship with Tencent and the opportunities of gaming in China. We think China is one of the most exciting places in the world for us to grow our business and to develop innovative new games.”

    Companies Besides Blizzard Who’ve Come Under Fire

    alt="boycott blizzard - nagrand"/>

    Large corporations like Blizzard, the National Basketball Association (NBA), and Tiffany and Co. have sold out to China. The NBA was also in the news this past weekend, because a fan Sam Wachs and his wife, showed up to a Well’s Fargo Center in Philidelphia with masks and signs. They held up the sign which read “Free Hong Kong”. Security rushed over to them, and let them know they couldn’t voice political opinions at the game. The game was between the Guangzhou Loong Lions and the Philidelphia 76ers. Guangzhou Loong Lions is a Chinese team.

    Sam said:

    “They told me ‘no politics. I asked why and they told me not to give them a hard time. A little after the signs were taken away, I stood in my seat and chanted “Fee Hong Kong” until security escorted us out.”

    Tiffany and Co. incited controversy when they posted an advertisement that appeared to support Hong Kong protestors. The jewelry company has since removed the post. Chinese model Sun Feifei was featured in the Ad. She wore a Tiffany ring and covered her right eye with her hand. Hong Kong protestors began covering one eye after two women suffered eye injuries from dealing with the police. Tiffany and Co. are claiming the Ad wasn’t political, and that the Ad was actually photographed months ago. Supporters of China posted on Weibo, which is China’s equivalent of Twitter, to let Tiffany and Co. know that they felt the timing of the advertisement was inconsiderate.

    A Tiffany spokes person said:

    “In no way intended to be a political statement of any kind”

    Blizzard Boycott – What Should The Fans Do?

    alt="boycott blizzard - jade forest"/>

    Blizzard, the NBA, and Tiffany and Co. are on the wrong side of history. I understand it’s all about money, and from a business perspective, this makes companies beholden to the countries in which they do business. What they need to remember is that people come first. There’s no amount of money which makes it okay to suppress freedom. The boycott Blizzard was brought on themselves.

    A famous saying states that money is the root of all evil. Big business has sold their souls to make more millions, but they’re forgetting about the consumers who make their business what it is. As consumers, we have to take a stand and decide what’s most important to us. No video game is worth innocent lives being lost, or their freedoms being denied. Companies need to find other ways to make money than relying on the Chinese market.

    How To Show Support

    To show support for the Hong Kong protestors we can continue to speak out. You can visit FreeHongKong.org for more information on how to help Hong Kong. On the website, you can pledge support for two important bills making their way through Congress. The Hong Kong Policy Reevaluation Act of 2019, and the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act are some of the best ways to take action. Our lawmakers hold the power to try and make a change. The Hong Kong Policy Reevaluation Act of 2019 will make hold China accountable for trying to circumvent US law. With the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, this will require the US to identify people who’ve been abducted by the Chinese government. You can read more about these two proposed bills, and how they may help at FreeHongKong.org.

    Another way you can help is by sending a message to major corporations who’ve sided with China. Money talks, and if businesses are worried about losing it, then they may take action. Boycott Blizzard and let American companies know that we’re not going to stand by and watch innocent people suffer. Rest assured that companies will listen if they’re afraid of losing money. Don’t stay silent because you’re afraid of backlash. We live in America and should exercise our freedom of speech. Be sure residents of Hong Kong know that we stand with them. In the future, maybe more companies will wake up and not make the same mistakes. They must remember that people always come first not millions.

  • World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 And WoW Classic

    World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 And WoW Classic

    World of Warcraft developer update patch 8.3 was released today. WoW Game Director Ion Hazzikostas gave an 18-minute presentation on what fans can expect moving forward. He confirmed the next raid, new allied races, and more exciting events. Now we finally have answers to all of our speculation. Patch 8.3 will be called Visions of N’Zoth and will be live on the Public Test Realms (PTR) tonight. So you’ll be able to jump right in and try out the new content.

    There’s a new heroic version of the Darkshore warfront, a new PvP season (season 4), and a new Mythic Keystone affix. We can also expect to see more of Wrathion. The Black Prince will be offering us a Legendary questline to receive a cloak. This cloak will be used to protect us from N’Zoth’s influence. Wrathion is a fan-favorite character, so this is great news. Patch 8.3 is packed with tons of epic goodies. So, let’s take a deeper look.

    World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3

    WoW Classic News

    Phase 2 has changed for WoW Classic. Diremaul is going live in Classic next week. The Honor System and the world bosses will go live later. More information is coming about the rest of phase 2.

    Titan Facilities, Assaults, and Horrific Visions

    alt="World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 - legion"/>

    Titan facilities in Uldum and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms will be under attack. We’ll have to defend them from N’Zoth’s minions. Our characters will enter the rifts, and visit an alternate reality. We’re going to stop these nightmares from within. The Titan facilities are our last line of defense against N’Zoth.

    World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 gave us information on the new assaults. Players will battle across Uldum and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Uldum has the Halls of Origination, and the Vale has Mogu’shan Vaults. The Vale has been fully restored from the events of Mists of Pandaria (MoP). While the Vale is under attack by N’Zoth, then you’ll see the zone is plunged into a new darkness. It’ll only look like that during the assault.

    Completing assaults will let you enter into N’Zoth’s mind. These Horrific Visions are similar to scenarios. When you enter the vision the first time, you’ll be driven to madness. Wrathion’s legendary quest line to earn a cloak will protect you from N’Zoth’s madness. This will let you go deeper into the vision. You’ll earn more rewards, and learn more secrets of N’Zoth’s power.  Any fragments of the Horrific Visions you find can be brought to Magni and Mother. They’ll do research, which will give you more defense against N’Zoth. The Horrific Visions can be completed solo, or with a 5-man group. Rewards will be equal.

    World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3

    Nya’lotha Raid and N’Zoth

    alt="World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 - orgrimmar"/>

    In Patch 8.3 we’re finally going to Nya’lotha. The Sleeping City is the domain of the Black Empire. Hazzikostas described Nya’lotha as being all around us, and that it’s hiding behind this thin veil. N’Zoth is bringing down the veil and is releasing nightmarish visions, which show the destruction the Black Empire may bring to Azeroth. This means that Nya’lotha is on Azeroth, so we won’t need to journey there on a space ship. Nya’lotha is going to be a raid. The raid will have twelve bosses. Players will have to fight their way through this horrible zone. At the end of this journey, we’re going to face N’Zoth. Every ally will be needed to face the Old God. The legendary cloak will help keep you safe.

    New Rewards System: Heart of Azeroth

    alt="World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3"/>

    The Heart of Azeroth is receiving new rewards. These new rewards have passive benefits, and it comes with a new essence slot. You can earn these new essences by doing the Assaults, Horrific Visions, PvP season 4 content, Mythic+, and the new Nya’lotha raid. Titanforging may also receive an update because the Titan facilities are under attack. The Titanforging could become more twisted and corrupt as a result.

    New Allied Races: Vulpera and Mechagnomes

    alt="World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 - mechagon"/>

    Patch 8.3 is giving us new allied races. The Vulpera are joining the Horde, while the Mechagnomes are joining the Alliance. To unlock the Vulpera you must be exalted with the Volduni. You also must complete a questline in Visions of N’Zoth and then you can play the Vulpera. Mechagnomes require you to be exalted with the Rustbolt Resistance and complete a questline in Visions of N’Zoth.

    New Heritage Armor: Goblin and Worgen

    alt="World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 - tanaris"/>

    World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3 is giving us new heritage armor. The Goblins heritage armor is red and features several explosives. It’s a perfect fit for Goblins who love to blow stuff up. Worgen is receiving armor which looks like old English attire. They’re also getting a top hat to complete the awesome look. To earn your heritage armor, you’ll need a character at max level, and to be exalted with your city (Gilneas or Isle of Kezan). You’ll also need to complete a short questline.

    Auction House Changes: World of Warcraft Developer Update Patch 8.3

    alt="Nazjatar"/>

    Changes to the Auction House are coming. We’ll no longer need to deal with items being sold in a single item. You can purchase how many items you want from a stack. The new interface will look better, and run smoother. Now we can save our favorite items to a shopping list. We’ll be able to find what we what much easier now. Blizzard has streamlined the Auction House process.

    Public Test Realms: Patch 8.3

    Patch 8.3 should be live on the public test realms today. Blizzard wants to hear your thoughts on the new Auction House system. They’re also seeking feedback

    New Mythic+ Keystone Affix

    alt="Nazjatar"/>

    The corrupted affix reflects N’Zoth’s dark influence because his tendrils will spread across Azeroth. When you visit dungeons in season four, you’ll sometimes see black empire obelisks. When you interact with an obelisk, you can enter an alternate world and defeat the lieutenant. If you skip these minions, they might attack you when you’re fighting final bosses.

  • Should The Best Music in World of Warcraft Have Its Own Orchestra Tour?

    Should The Best Music in World of Warcraft Have Its Own Orchestra Tour?

    The best music in World of Warcraft is impossible to pin down. It doesn’t hurt to have the best gaming speakers for World of Warcraft to enjoy the music. I was going to write a generic best music of World of Warcraft post, but then I thought about it. Why doesn’t World of Warcraft have its own orchestra tour?

    A concert just for WoW fans would be epic. I’ve been to the Kingdom Hearts orchestra concert, and the tickets sold out hours after it went on sale. Let me say the concert was a life-changer. Being around so many fans who not only love the KH series of games but can also appreciate the art and hard work required to create such a masterpiece is beyond words. It was also a dream come true because Kingdom Hearts game composer Yoko Shimomura and KH Game Director Tetsuya Nomura were there. We even got to listen to Shimomura play the piano. Can you say awesome?

    Kingdom Hearts isn’t the only popular video game franchise with successful concerts. Examples include the Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses, Final Fantasy’s numerous concerts, Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions, and Video Games Live. Video Games Live has featured a few songs from World of Warcraft in the past. I’m also aware we have BlizzCon every November, and Blizzard has had Warcraft music performed at conventions. This post is suggesting a concert tour that is specifically for WoW fans with only Warcraft music being featured.

    WoW having a concert tour would be out of this world. We’d get the chance to see and/or meet the creators of the game. Orchestra tours travel the world, and WoW is incredibly popular. Imagine getting a picture or an autograph with the game composers like Neal Acree or Glenn Stafford. Can you visualize the excitement as epic footage from the game is played in-time to the music? Just think about all the exclusive World of Warcraft concert merchandise.

    Please make this dream a reality Blizzard. All you have to do is:

    Best Music in World of Warcraft: Let’s Talk About The Music!

    alt="best music in world of warcraft - stormheim"/>

    There is something special about the soundtracks within this game. I can’t tell you how many times I left the game running just to hear the music. We have a variety of soundtracks. Which include peaceful songs like Elwynn Forest, and the more striking main theme on the login screen. Every time I log into the game, I’ve always wished I could hear the main theme song live. Warcraft’s theme is heart-racing and jam-packed as it readies you for the drums of war. Who wouldn’t want to hear the theme song live?

    Legends of Azeroth

    When I turn on WoW Classic I love listening to the original main theme “Legends of Azeroth”. It gives me so many feels and is one of the best music in World of Warcraft. I remember playing vanilla WoW as a kid. It’s already a dream come true that Blizzard has given the fandom WoW Classic. An orchestra tour would unite the fandom even more. Regardless of whether a fan prefers WoW Classic or retail, at the end of the day, we all love Warcraft. Music, in general, has the power to unite people, and this is true regardless of our differences. The music in WoW has already pulled us together, and it will continue to make the fandom strong.

    Love the music in WoW? Then check out the World of Warcraft Original Soundtrack by Jason Hayes on Amazon.com.

    Daughter of the Sea

    Lament of the Highborne (2019 Version)

    Each expansion has famous tracks. Imagine listening to “Way of the Monk” from the Mists of Pandaria (MoP) expansion live. Or how about “Nightsong”, a strong and beautiful song from the Cataclysm (Cata) expansion. Wouldn’t Jaina’s theme song “Daughter of the Sea” give you the chills live? Laura Bailey did an excellent job of conveying Jaina’s anguish and regret. When music is really good, it can make you get goosebumps all over your body. I feel the same when I hear “Lament of the Highborne”. Patty Mattson is able to capture the anger and pain that Sylvanas has experienced. There’s nothing like this song, and it’d be a treat to hear it live.

    Anduin’s Theme: A World Divided

    Warcraft music resonates within your soul. When I listen to “A World Divided”, I’m reminded of his father. King Varian was so cool and edgy. He was a great and steadfast leader, who risked his life for his people. It was heart-breaking when the character died in Legion. Listening to Anduin’s theme always makes me sad. It’s a beautiful song, which is packed with so much grief. It gives us better insight into how Anduin feels. Not every song can capture such a prolific character, and the relationship he shared with his father. It’d be an honor to hear Anduin’s theme in a World of Warcraft orchestra concert.

    Arthas, my Son

    Invincible

    These two songs are everything. Wrath of the Lich King (Wrath) was the expansion I started playing WoW. I was already familiar with the Lich King story because of Warcraft III. There are videos on Youtube of various orchestra’s playing WoW music throughout the years. These two songs show up often. The Lich King is one of the most iconic characters in Warcraft’s history. There’s no way we could have an orchestra concert without honoring the king himself.

    Wrath had so many memorable tracks. Who can forget entering the Grizzly Hills for the first time and hearing the Nyckelharpa? The zone is a peaceful mountainous region with darkness hiding in the shadows, and the music represented it well.  The Storm Peaks was another Wrath zone I can’t forget. It’s my favorite zone in the entire game, and it’s partly due to the grand soundtrack “Mountains of Thunder”. The ambiance of the lightning and thunder mixed with the music gives Storm Peaks a magnificent feel.

    Wrath of the Lich King had a cool villain and an epic soundtrack. Check out the World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King Official Soundtrack by Russel Brower on Amazon.com.

    Unique Musical Arrangements For The Concert

    alt="best music in world of warcraft - western plaguelands"/>

    Fans who attend the concert could be treated with special arrangements. There could be WoW orchestra exclusives which you only hear at the concert. We could also preview songs from upcoming expansions. Maybe the orchestra could also play unreleased tracks from the game. The concert would be where you’d hear the music first. Each expansion receives its own version of the main theme song. I’d love to hear the new version of WoW’s main theme at each concert.

    Let’s Imagine The Possibilities: Merchandise

    alt="best music in world of warcraft - dalaran"/>

    World of Warcraft already has tons of unique merchandise. There are some things I’d love to see more of though. Examples include planners, notebooks, cosmetics, shoes, and more girly stuff in general. I love the Cute but Deadly line by Ju-Ju-Be, but the products are limited. Most of the products are bags, wallets, or stuffed animals.

    I’m aware there’s more than that, but it’s also the only Warcraft theme products that are cute. They’re also faction neutral, but it’d be awesome to have cute faction themed stuff too. So many girls and women play WoW. I’d either like to see the Cute but Deadly line expanded or just more adorable WoW products in general besides bags and plush toys. I’m a little off-topic here, but I just wanted to get that off my chest.

    Merchandise at a World of Warcraft orchestra concert would obviously be musically themed. I’d love to get an exclusive album only sold at the concert. The concert would have its own t-shirts, and they would say World of Warcraft Orchestra tour. We could have more epic artwork on the shirts featuring our favorite characters.

    Merchandise Continued

    alt="best music in world of warcraft - boralus"/>

    Wouldn’t it be awesome if they’re in a silhouette? Like if Thrall had a side profile of his face made with music notes, and it’s not completely colored in, but you know who it is. Just imagine all the cool accessories you can buy at an orchestra tour. We could purchase artbooks, sheet music, key chains, jewelry, and headwear. I can just see myself grinning as I receive my free poster when I walk into the venue.

    We could have a VIP ticket that allows you to meet the WoW composers and developers. Wouldn’t it be awesome to take a photo, and spend time with them? What if there was a special ticket where you could attend a party or special dinner with them? Companies that do stuff like this would include Disney, where you can have lunch with an Imagineer. Imagineer’s are the angels who make theme parklands and roller coaster.

    Blizzard could offer us a chance to hang with the developers. Don’t you want to meet WoW’s Game Director Ion Hazzikostas? The magic doesn’t happen without the Warcraft team. We’ve got composers, engineers, and artists. There are also the authors who help to craft the lore. It would make the World of Warcraft orchestra concerts something truly special.

    World of Warcraft Orchestra Would Give Us A Place For Announcements

    alt="best music in world of warcraft - suramar"/>

    BlizzCon is great because it features all of Blizzard’s games. It’s a mega-convention where all Blizzard fans meet. I’m not saying WoW shouldn’t be at BlizzCon. The franchise is doing fine at the yearly convention. I’m asking for an orchestra tour which is for WoW fans alone. This way we can have more official meetups throughout the year.

    An orchestra concert would give Blizzard more places to announce content. World of Warcraft has new content released about every four months. Trailers could be shown first-hand to concert-goers. So it’d be an extra treat for attending the event. Expansion announcements are normally done at BlizzCon, but Blizzard did announce Legion at Gamescom. So it’s not impossible for the company to switch it up.

    I’d love for Blizzard to announce a new Warcraft movie or a Netflix television show. The cinematics is so good in this game, it’s almost criminal. They don’t need to wait for an orchestra concert to announce that though. Blizzard can go ahead and announce a movie or TV show at the next BlizzCon. The first Warcraft movie didn’t do so well. I saw it and I didn’t like the changes to the plot. Some of the actors weren’t properly cast. Either way, I’m here for a new attempt at bringing WoW to the big or small screen. It’s another ‘Shut up and take my money’ thing.

    An Orchestra Tour Creates More Possibilities For Future WoW Themed Events

    alt="best music in world of warcraft"/>

    We need more officially licensed events. I’d love to have meet-ups, parties, and competitions. Maybe the WoW ESports could be an excuse for Blizzard to host special events. I’m not talking about in-game events. This is an opportunity to bring us physically together to watch the ESports, cosplay, eat Azerothian inspired dishes, and hang out.

    It might make more players excited to watch the events too. Especially if Blizzard includes unique merchandise and prizes. There could even be special food offered at these events. Some could be inspired by the game, and others could be Warcraft themed. Sprinkles could make WoW cupcakes, and Starbucks could have Warcraft themed coffees.

    What’s your favorite song from World of Warcraft? Leave a comment below. My favorite song is “Mountains of Thunder” from Storm Peaks. It fits the zones’ ambiance with all the lightning and thunder because of its grand sound.

    Hopefully, someday we do see a World of Warcraft orchestra tour. The music in this game is too good not to have its own show. Maybe Blizzard will get excited about making more money. An orchestra concert tour is sure to make a ton of cash. Thanks for hanging out at my Hearth.

    WoW Classic Layering Update

    Please share this Pinterest pin. Thank you!

    Blizzard promised fans they would remove layering when they could. It’s been five weeks since launch and Blizzard are finally giving us a WoW Classic Layering update. Now that players have leveled up and spread out across the world, the layering is slowly being turned off. Popular realms like Faerlina has only had two layers for the past three weeks.

    World bosses are coming to Classic soon. Blizzard wanted to have the layering turned off before then. So this means that each realm will only have a single layer. The login screen will now tell you if a realm is layered. Realms that are set to one layer will show low/medium/high for the population. Free character moves are still being offered to balance populations and manage login queues. Several realms are now set to one layer.

    Originally posted on Blizzard forums by community manager Kaivax:

    • Arcanite Reaper
    • Ashkandi
    • Azuresong
    • Deviate Delight
    • Earthfury

    WoW Classic Layering Update

    Layering gets in the way of establishing a healthy community. It’s needed in the beginning. Too many players in one zone can crash a server. It also increases player enjoyment when the realms are too packed. At least with the layering, we’ve got a higher chance of killing enemies.

    How do you feel about the layering in WoW Classic? Are you happy it’s being turned off? Please leave a comment.

    BlizzCon 2019 Virtual Ticket And Warcraft Cinematic Artbook

    BlizzCon 2019 Virtual tickets went on sale yesterday. For just $49.99 you can watch the convention from the comfort of your home. The best part is the in-game goodies that came with the ticket, but more on that in a bit. Gamespot interviewed Blizzard President J. Allen Brack about Blizzard Entertainment’s future. Many questions dealt with the direction the company is headed. Also, the Cinematic Art of World of Warcraft: Volume I is releasing this month.

    Please remember to share the Pinterest pin on this post. Thank you!

    BlizzCon 2019 Virtual Tickets

    alt="horde meeting in stormsong valley"/>

    BlizzCon is next month and I’m so excited. We may have a new expansion announcement, and I’m hoping to hear about patch 8.3. Rumors say that we’ll be visiting the Shadowlands in the next expansion. We’ll have to wait until BlizzCon for our answer. A month isn’t too long to wait though. It’ll be here before we know it. For now we can enjoy our new Wendigo Woolies which came with the virtual BlizzCon ticket.

    Purchasing the virtual BlizzCon ticket will give you in-game rewards. These include transmogrifiable Wendigo Woolies and in-game pets. Fans have been having a great time showcasing their cute but deadly toons on Twitter. The woolie wasn’t the only fun part. Murlocs themed after Sylvanas (Gilvanas) and Anduin (Finduin) were also added. These unique pets are super fun.

    The virtual ticket is usable on November 1st and 2nd. During the convention, you’ll be able to watch the All-Access Channel. There will be Community Night contests on Friday. Also, there will be bonus panel content for all your favorite games.

    Gamespot Interviews Blizzard President J. Allen Brack

    alt="blizzcon 2019 virtual ticket - tanaris"/>

    So, besides the exciting BlizzCon 2019 virtual ticket this week, we also got a new interview. Gamespot’s Tamoor Hussain interviewed Blizzard President J. Allen Brack. Brack said announcing WoW Classic was hugely satisfying at BlizzCon two years ago. He said that the company didn’t believe they would recreate WoW Classic. They decided in 2017 that they were going to do it.

    Blizzard has had a rough year with layoffs and shake-ups at the executive level. Brack wants to reassure fans that Blizzard still honors it’s core values. He said:

    What I think is important for people to know is the values that have built this place and built Blizzard are still the same values. – Blizzard President J. Allen Brack

    Most of the article is the usual corporate speak. In other words, great questions were asked, but some evasive answers were given. The biggest takeaway from this interview is that Blizzard learned from their mistakes. They gave the fandom WoW Classic. If you’re a Diablo fan, the company is acknowledging that they didn’t present the mobile game well. It made perfect sense that Diablo fans would be angry when they’ve waited so long for Diablo 4. Hopefully, Blizzard focuses mainly on PC games moving forward, and they don’t forget to listen to their consumers.

    Blizzard is releasing the Cinematic Art of World of Warcraft: Volume I on October 15th. This stunning book has pictures and history behind the amazing cinematics in the game. It’s certainly a must grab because the cinematic team always does a fantastic job. In Battle for Azeroth, the cinematics feel like a movie. It’d be awesome if a Warcraft movie or Netflix show was made in the cinematic art style. Blizzard’s cinematics has always had a realistic, but epic feels to them.

  • 22 Must-Have Gifts For Video Gamers

    22 Must-Have Gifts For Video Gamers

    The holidays are coming fast, and you’re probably looking for the 22 must-have gifts for video gamers. You may be a gamer, or maybe you have a video gamer in your life. Either way, this guide will give you useful gift-giving suggestions. If you’re not a gamer I’m sure you’re aware that gamers are a unique bunch. We’re savvy and know when something isn’t legit, but it’s not hard to please us.

    If you’re buying Christmas gifts for the gamer in your life focus on what they enjoy. Some gamers prefer battle-royale games like Fortnite, but others may enjoy MMORPG’s such as World of Warcraft. Then you’ve got the gamers who’re into more relaxing games like Animal Crossing, or maybe they’re into pet battles like Pokémon. Most gamers do enjoy playing Mario, but again it’s best to pay attention to your gamer’s desires.

    Christmas morning is so exciting as a gamer. We know that the colorful gifts resting underneath the tree hold the coolest games and accessories. The most exciting years were when I received a new video game system. As a kid, I loved opening up the box and finding the newest Nintendo handheld, or discovering a Playstation console. The holidays are the perfect time to bring a smile to any gamer’s face. Whether it’s getting a new t-shirt featuring their favorite game, or maybe it’s finally getting that new controller. Gamers are easy to please during the holidays. This is why the hottest games always release within the last few months of the year. Gaming companies are dying for their game to appear under your tree.

    Not every gamer enjoys the same things. If you’re a gamer maybe you’ll see something you like, and if you’re not a gamer, hopefully, this can point you in the right direction. Finding the best gifts for video gamers doesn’t have to be scary.  In fact it should be fun. So, let’s get into the must-have gifts for video gamers.

    22 Must-Have Gifts for Video Gamers

    Video Game Consoles

    alt="21 must-have gifts for video gamers - nintendo switch"/>

    We have to start the 22 must-have gifts for video gamers with consoles. Gamers can’t play games without the hardware it comes on. These are fun for both kids and adults. It’s always a delight to see someone’s eyes light up in joy when they open a new video game system. So, let’s check out the must-have video game consoles for gamers this year.

    22. Nintendo Switch

    A Nintendo Switch is an awesome gift. There are so many multiplayer games which makes it great for parties, family fun, and hanging out with friends. Nintendo just released new Switch’s with longer battery life. Now you can enjoy playing for up to 9 hours. If the serial number is HAC-001(-01) then you have the most current version of the console. The Switch comes in two colors, Gray joy-con or Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con. You have the flexibility to switch from television console to handheld. It’s a versatile system and is a huge step-up from the Wii U.

    Games are displayed in crisp detail. You’ll find Nintendo exclusive hits like Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Mario Kart. The Switch also has games that have been ported to the system. Two famous examples include Minecraft or the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. With more than 2.000 games and counting to choose from, you’ll never run out of the fun. The new revised version of the system not only has a longer battery life, but the system has much better cooling. So now the game system won’t be too warm when used as a handheld device. The Switch is excellent for family-time, hanging out with friends, or to play by yourself. No matter what you can’t go wrong with giving a Nintendo Switch as a gift.

    21. Nintendo Switch Lite

    The Nintendo Switch Lite is the compact version of the Switch. I’ve been dying to get my hands on this, especially because Animal Crossing: New Horizons is releasing on March 2020. Handheld games are great for everyone, but especially for kids. I remember opening my Nintendo 3DS Christmas morning as a teen and receiving Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and other famous titles like Mario. The Nintendo Switch Lite is easier to carry around. Also, not everyone owns the Nintendo Switch console, so this is a great compromise. Joysticks aren’t detachable, but the Switch lite has a longer battery. If you have smaller hands than the portable will be easier to hold.

    Graphics are sharp and the resolution is 720p. Screensize is 5.5 which is smaller than the regular Switch’s 6.2. The Switch lite features a smooth touchscreen and it’s cheaper than the regular Switch. Buttons feel just like the Gameboy Advanced, which means they aren’t too rigid or clicky. Speakers are on the underside of the system, which makes the volume lower than the original Switch.

    You should be aware that downloadable content is only playable with the internet. Also, Nintendo has protections in place for sharing. You’ll need to own physical copies of a game if more than one family member will be using the system. Nintendo has made it difficult to use the same digital game on various systems without an internet connection. Despite this limitation though, the Nintendo Switch Lite is an awesome game system, and it’ll make a great gift.

    Accessories

    No matter what type of games your video gamer plays, all gamers need accessories. These are must-have gifts for video gamers when we’re storming a castle, capturing a Pokémon, or paying off our debt with Tom Nook. Gamers want the best quality accessories in order to take their game to the next level. No gamer would say no to increase their gaming experience. So, what accessories do gamers need you to ask?

    20. Nintendo Switch Carrying Case

    A Nintendo Switch Lite is certainly going to need a carrying case. You wouldn’t want to drop your new toy while you’re on the road, and then cry because the screen cracked. I’ve always gotten a protective case for all my handheld systems. My video games are like my babies. The Nintendo Switch carrying case is sleek and stylish. It’s small enough to fit inside any bag, and it has storage areas for your games. The case comes in blue and black so you’ll be able to match your Switch. One major flaw is that there’s no space to place the charger. Your Switch may also shift around a bit inside of the case. Either way it’s a fantastic way to protect your new Switch Lite.

    19. Nintendo Switch Lite DuraFlexi Protector

    Handheld systems can easily be scratched or dropped. Protecting my game console is as important to me as my smartphone. You’ll want this officially licensed protector from Nintendo. I still own my protective case for the Nintendo 3DS. The protector is a clear case which you place over the Nintendo Switch Lite. It’s supposed to protect the system if it’s dropped and from wear and tear. The case has a nice grip which is great for long play sessions and sweaty hands. The case does add a small layer of bulk, but it’s not too distracting.

    Accessories Continued

    18. HyperX Cloud Mix Wired Gaming Headset

    The HyperX Cloud Mix Wired Gaming headset is the best accessory for a gamer. This headset is versatile. Finally, there’s a headset that can be used on a wire and wirelessly, and still have incredibly high-resolution movie-theatre quality sound. The bass is excellent, and you won’t miss a moment of your favorite music. It can be used with PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Mobile, and the Nintendo Switch. It’s light-weight and is Bluetooth capable of up to 20 hours of use. You’ll be able to catch all the ambient sounds you’ve missed in your favorite games.

    It’s super comfortable and feels awesome to the touch. The headphones have a rigid and cool-to-the-touch aluminum frame. It’s wrapped with a plush, soft-touch headband. Your ears will be comfy and snug with the foam-clad ear cups. The headphones have a gorgeous matte black coating and the HyperX logo in silver lettering. The optional wiring will give you more freedom.

    You can use the headphone for games, music, and mobile. Nicely textured buttons ensure you’ll be able to change your music track or turn off the headphones without touching your connected device. You can easily remove the microphone and wire if you’re on the go. It’s great for traveling. Thanks to the USB charging and the long battery life, you’ll never be without your headphones on the road.

    17. Razer Goliathus Speed Gaming Mouse Pad

    The Razer Goliathus looks awesome with its green cosmic design, and it comes in a sweet-looking box. This mouse pad would fit in well with a gaming setup. Just sync the computer keyboard with green RGB lighting and it’s a perfect match. As a gaming mouse pad, it’s long and that makes a huge difference when playing action games. When you have a good mouse pad your accuracy is increased. This is crucial when fighting against opponents or shooting targets in your favorite games. Your movements will be so slick it’ll be like slicing through butter.

    It’s a cloth mouse pad with an anti-fraying stitched frame and an anti-slip rubber base. This means your hand will be comfortably positioned, and the mouse pad is long enough to fit underneath the keyboard. The Razer has a hefty feel and braided edges. You’re getting a high-quality product which is sure to last. The Razer is great for a casual gameplay and hardcore gamers. If you want to hook your gamer up with the ultimate gaming set-up, then be sure to check out the best gaming mouse, and the best gaming PC’s.

    16. Razer Wolverine Ultimate Gaming Controller – Xbox One

    Gaming controllers are a must-have for gamers. A bad controller can slow down our accuracy, and cause frustration when we want to kick-back and play our favorite games. You want a controller which is ergonomic, which means it’s designed for efficiency and comfort. This is why you’ll want to check out the Razer Wolverine Ultimate. It’s made for the Xbox, but can be used for the PC. With a wide selection of lighting effects, your gaming setup will look fierce.

    The buttons are comfortable, responsive, and sturdy. It’ll feel like you’re clicking a mouse, rather than pressing buttons on a controller. You can truly bring your game to the next level when you customize the Razer Wolverine Ultimate. It features interchangeable D-pad and analog sticks. The buttons are remappable, so if you’re a left-hander gamer then this controller is a godsend. A downloadable app for your PC lets you customize the lighting effects and vibration.

    Collectibles

    alt="21 must-have gifts for video gamers - game controller"/>

    When searching for the best gifts for video gamers, we can’t forget collectibles. Gamers are the geekiest bunch you’ll ever meet. We’ll collect props like swords, wear t-shirts with the logo of our favorite games, and we’ll even cosplay as our favorite game characters. You can never go wrong with these collectible items.

    15. Funko Pop! Pokémon – Pikachu (waving)

    Isn’t this Pikachu Funko Pop just adorable? Nintendo has a line of Pokémon funko pops. Many gamers and geeks enjoy collecting pops. They look fantastic on your bookcase, shelf, or desk. Any gamer who happens to be a Pokémon fan would be thrilled to receive a cute Pikachu to add to their collection.

    14. Funko Games: Pop! Pokémon Collectors Set 1

    Charmander and Bulbasaur are so cute! You can add these with the Pikachu to make a set of three. It’s a wonderful way to add to any gamer’s Funko Pop collection.

    13. The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy Slipcased Edition

    If you’re looking for a gift for a Final Fantasy fan, then you can’t go wrong with this art of Final Fantasy book. Yoshitaka Amano is the artist. He joined Square in 1987 to work on Final Fantasy. Amano was the main character designer for the series until he stepped down in 1994. There are three art books in one collection. It comes within a fabric enclosed slipcase, and these books have a nice weight. You’ll find artwork from the first ten Final Fantasy games, and altogether it’s about 600 pages. The edition is printed on glossy stock paper and is 11 5/8 high by 10 5/8 wide.

    12. Overwatch Pachimari Plush toy

    This adorable Pachimari plush toy is sure to delight. Pachimari is a tiny-turnip from the popular Overwatch game series. The plush toy even squeaks just like it does in the game. You’ll want to make sure that Roadhog doesn’t snatch Pachimari before you do.

    11. Overwatch: The Official Cookbook

    Overwatch is getting an official cookbook on October 1st. The book was made by the amazing Chelsea Monroe-Cassel who created the World of Warcraft Official Cookbook, and the Feast of Ice and Fire: the Official Game of Thrones cookbook. You’ll be able to make unique food from within the Overwatch universe. Examples of recipes include Orisa Sundae, Valkyrie’s Flight, The 76, and Canadian Butter Tarts. The cookbook is a fun way to enjoy Overwatch and to spend time with friends.

    10. Kingdom Key – Kingdom Hearts

    Any Kingdom Hearts fan would go nuts to have their very own keyblade. No keyboard is more iconic than Sora’s Kingdom Key. A keyblade chooses its master, so it’s an excellent choice of gift. The keyblade is meant to be a prop and isn’t a toy. So there won’t be any crazy adventures to Wonderland or Agrabah to save the worlds from darkness. It’s not an exact replica of the Kingdom Key, but it does open the door to light. So what more could you ask for?

    9. JINX Minecraft Creepy Creeper Kids School Backpack

    This officially licensed Minecraft backpack was created by JINX. The backpack is made of nice material and includes lots of pockets and storage. It’s a gray backpack with the iconic Creeper design on the front. There’s also an awesome block design covering the whole bag. Inside of the main compartment is a place to store your laptop. The front has four separate pockets. There are adjustable straps and back padding for support. It’s perfect for school or weekend trips.

    Game Time: 22 Must-Have Gifts For Video Gamers

    Gamers always need game time. Running out of game time can put a wrench in any gamer’s day. Many games offer a subscription-based model, but some games are free-to-play today.

    8. Steam Gift Card

    Steam is a service that offers access to thousands of games. The service includes community like friends lists and groups. It’s focused on PC gaming.

    7. Playstation Plus

    A Playstation Plus membership grants 12 months of access to free games. The service offers multiplayer and access to exclusive discounts. It also gives you access to 100GB of cloud storage. Now all of your game data is stored safely. Playstation Plus also provides you with Share Play. The Share Play feature allows you and your friends to play together even if they don’t own the same game. One year’s worth of access is a great deal.

    6. Xbox Gift Card

    An Xbox gift card can be used to get popular games, add-ons, map packs and more. You can also access movies, TV shows and the top apps on Windows.

    5. Gamestop

    A Gamestop gift card is an excellent option for a gift. With a gift card, it places the power in the gift receivers’ hands to decide what they want. This is the best option if you don’t know what type of games they play.

    Video Games

    Now, this is the most important part. We can’t talk about the must-have gifts for video gamers without talking about the hottest games. Check out these popular gaming suggestions.

    4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Nintendo Switch

    Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was a smash hit when it released last December. It’s a Nintendo Switch game, which is also compatible with the Nintendo Switch Lite. Super Smash would pair nicely with the Nintendo Switch Lite. It’s an excellent game for multiplayer fun. All 63 characters from the series are available, and six new ones. It’s a huge game full of fast combat, new items, new attacks, new defensive positions and more.  The game lets you use eight characters in the beginning. You start the game with Pikachu, Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Yoshi, Samus, and Starfox. To unlock all the other characters you’ll have to play the game. The gameplay is fast. Multiple stages are available giving you the option to switch things up. Graphics are high-quality and a huge step up from the Wii U.

    3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Nintendo Switch

    Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a Nintendo Switch game. It’s compatible with the Nintendo Switch Lite. This game is an upgrade from the previous Wii U version. Great music and crystal clear graphics make up the game. You’re in for an immersive experience that you can play with friends and family. Mario Kart 8 offers assistance control including acceleration. The helpful controls are great for young kids.  A guidance system can keep the cart on the course. The game gives you the option of using the joystick to steer or to use the controller to drive. With multiplayer, you can race up to 12 players worldwide on tracks voted on by players. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has tons of content to keep you entertained.

    2. Death Stranding – Playstation 4

    Death Stranding is one of the most highly anticipated games of this year. It’s an action game for the Playstation 4 system. Legendary Game Creator Hideo Kojima is known for its unique plots. He enjoys weaving complex narratives that ask philosophical questions. Death Stranding is named after the event when whales and dolphins beach themselves on the sand. Not much is know about the game’s plot. Several trailers have been shown at recent gaming events, but they leave viewers with more questions than answers.

    1. Kingdom Hearts III – Playstation 4 and Xbox One

    I had to save the best must-have gifts for video gamers for last. Kingdom Hearts is a unique series. It’s a mix between Disney and Final Fantasy characters. The KH series appeals to both children and adults. Thirteen years have passed since Kingdom Hearts II and there were times it felt like this game would never come. Kingdom Hearts has a way of touching the heart through its use of music, and emotional storytelling.

    We follow the hero Sora on his journey to save the world from darkness. He’s joined by Donald Duck and Goofy, as they search for the seven lights. The seven lights are other Keyblade Wielders who will join them in the final showdown. Master Xehanort has amassed thirteen darknesses (his supporters). His goal is to have the thirteen darknesses clash with the seven lights. Kingdom Hearts III is not to be missed, especially if you love Disney and you’re looking for nostalgia.

  • Would A World Of Warcraft Faction Merge Be A Good Thing?

    Would A World Of Warcraft Faction Merge Be A Good Thing?

    Spoiler Warning! This post will contain spoilers for patch 8.2.5.

    Would a World of Warcraft faction merge be a good thing? Patch 8.2.5 dropped yesterday and Lady Sylvanas Windrunner is on the run. High Overlord Saurfang is dead, and the Alliance may have cracks in its ranks. According to King Anduin, the Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind hasn’t responded to his messages. She’s clearly still harboring resentment toward Sylvanas for the burning of Teldrassil, and for Anduin’s handling of the situation.

    The faction conflict has been a part of World of Warcraft’s fabric for 15 years. I will admit it felt strange yesterday for my dwarven hunter to run around Razor Hill. He was able to fly close to Orgrimmar without being marked as PvP too. I’m not sure how I feel about a faction merge, or even a faction split if we end up with three or four new factions at some point. No matter how I feel though, it’s clear that Blizzard is taking World of Warcraft in a new direction.

    So, do you think a faction merge is a good thing? Or, would you rather have a faction split where we have new alliances? Please, leave a comment below.

    alt="would a world of warcraft faction merge be a good thing? - pinterest pin"/>

    Would a World of Warcraft Faction Merge Be a Good Thing?

    Where The Story Is Headed

    alt="would a world of warcraft faction merge be a good thing - Saurfang funeral"/>

    As a player, I don’t want a faction merge. I enjoy being able to play both my hunters on two different factions. The game looks and feels different on each side. I play Alliance and I love it. The story though may call for a shift. With N’Zoth being freed and Azeroth suffering from her wounds, if the factions don’t put their hatreds behind them, then Azeroth may die.

    Story-wise there’s still going to be conflict. There’s no way that Tyrande would merge with the Horde. She’s still angry about Teldrassil, and who could blame her. Sylvanas murdered thousands of innocent Night Elves. Basically, Sylvanas has now become Garrosh 2.0 and is commiting War Crimes left and right. Genn Greymane got along fine with Lor’themar for a minute in Nazjatar, but Genn’s also still angry about the death of his son. Neither Tyrande or Genn would pass on a chance to have their revenge. So if a faction merge gets in the way of that they may walk away.

    This then brings up the question are we going to have a faction split then? Instead of two factions, what if we had three or four? Maybe these factions would be separated by beliefs rather than necessity. The Horde has always been about honor, but most of the Horde races banded together for survival. Alliance races tend to believe in the light, but they also banded together to protect their homes. New factions could be split by light and darkness, or maybe life and death.

    There are already rumors that we’ll be visiting the Shadowlands for the next expansion. If factions are divided by light and darkness, then we could see our characters split up by class instead of race. An example of classes in a darkness faction is Shadow Priests, Death Knights, Warlocks, and Demon Hunters. The light faction could be composed of Priests, Warriors, Mages, and Druids.

    Is It Time For World Of Warcraft To Shift Gears?

    alt="would a world of warcraft faction merge be a good thing? - Alleria asking Anduin to allow Sylvanas's plan to unfold"/>

    WoW Classic released last month, and it’s been one heck of a ride. Thanks to Classic, World of Warcraft broke records, which included having over a million viewers on Twitch on release day. Classic also grew WoW’s subscription revenue by 223%, which made World of Warcraft the 3rd top-grossing PC game in August. Thanks to Classic, Blizzard Entertainment’s stock rose 4.7%. This is great news after the company was going through a rough patch last year and had done layoffs. Classic, unfortunately, caught the attention of DDoS attackers too. So, basically, Classic helped elevate World of Warcraft back into mainstream consciousness.

    Many old players returned to relive the madness. We also saw new players beginning their adventure within Azeroth. Classic saw us returning to World of Warcraft in it’s purest form. The game was slow and unforgiving 15 years ago, but it was also incredibly rewarding. It was way easier to make friends because you had to rely on each other for quests, professions, and group content. Retail is different because you can totally play the game by yourself. With WoW Classic being out though, does this mean that Blizzard feels they can take retail into a new direction?

    A faction merge would be the biggest shakeup in WoW since the Cataclysm (Cata). The idea is even crazier than Mists of Pandaria (MoP), and many players didn’t take those rumors seriously back then. They thought panda’s in Warcraft would look stupid. Mists ended up being a pretty epic expansion. When most players complain about the worst expansions in WoW, they normally talk about Warlords of Draenor (WoD), Battle for Azeroth (BFA), or Cata.

    World of Warcraft Gear Shift Continued

    The best expansions in WoW are usually picked because of the storyline, gameplay, and overall epicness. Most players have fond memories of Vanilla, the Burning Crusade (BC), and the Wrath of the Lich King (Wrath) expansions. So those of us who’ve played WoW for at least 11 or 12 years like myself, remember the old school way of doing things. In general, when players talk about their favorite expansions you’ll hear Wrath, MoP, or Legion quite often. Most of these expansions share commonalities. The storyline was engaging because these expansions took a risk, and they were usually connected to Warcraft III. So these expansions also featured popular heroes and villains that fans wanted to see.

    Blizzard may need to take a risk to keep World of Warcraft afloat. The only things constant in life are change. As fans, many of us may be afraid to see a faction merge or split, but if we’re being honest with ourselves maybe we’re ready. The game can’t grow, and the story won’t change if we don’t see anything shocking. When Cata first happened, many of my friends stopped playing because they didn’t like the changes. The game world looked different, and the gameplay wasn’t as difficult. WoW didn’t feel like the game they had fallen in love with. If Blizzard hadn’t done Cata and then released MoP right after, maybe WoW wouldn’t still be online today. The gaming industry has shifted focus to a casual gaming audience. They want games to be more accessible and trendy.

    A faction merge could actually make the game more accessible to a casual audience. For many newer players, maybe the faction conflict feels outdated and confusing. The challenge though is that some races wouldn’t want to be too close. Most humans in WoW probably still remember the Orcs invading their lands, and the Night Elves haven’t forgiven the Orcs for their lumber operations. The Tauren don’t appreciate Dwarves digging through the Earth. Goblins want to be rich. As long as they make money then they don’t care who they’re allied with. Anyway, you get the picture.

    Should Players Have A Choice?

    alt="would a world of warcraft faction merge be a good thing? - Mayla Highmountain waiting for orders"/>

    Horde players were allowed to choose whether to betray Sylvanas or not. You saw a different final cutscene in the War Campaign if you chose to side with her. This is the first time Blizzard has allowed our choices to affect the outcome of the story. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could choose whether we want the factions to merge or split? If our choices actually affect the story than that gives more power to the players. It’s already awesome that our playable characters are in the cutscene with the heroes. The game creates a cohesive story. Sometimes it feels like I’m playing an interactive movie. A lot of Playstation 4 games feel like this too. Maybe this is just an industry standard, but it’s fun.

    Would you like Blizzard to let the players choose the story direction? Leave a comment with your thoughts.

    Would A Faction Merge Last?

    alt="saurfang and thrall"/>

    The heroes have a habit of only getting along for a minute. A theme of trust seems to be an undercurrent in this expansion. It’s been mentioned several times that King Anduin is too trusting. This could leave the Alliance in a bad situation, especially if the Old-God whispers pertaining to the lies from the boy-king are true. If there’s a faction merge, no one is just going to forget the bloodshed. How do you trust someone who murdered your friends and family? It’s not impossible for the factions to merge, but it doesn’t make sense for them to sing Kumbaya either. Each race is highly aware of what the other one is capable of. What would stop the Horde or Alliance from secretly furthering their own gains?

    Everyone says they want to protect Azeroth, but it could just be talking. A World of Warcraft faction merge for necessity rather than a common bond could cause it to break. There are prejudices and preconceived notions formed from years of war. None of those are going to disappear overnight. Most humans probably consider the Orcs to be savage. Tauren assumes the Dwarves have no respect for nature. We have several types of elves now. Are we sure the Night Elves, Blood Elves, and Nightborne are no longer bitter about Queen Azshara and the Sundering? Thalyssra and Shandris didn’t seem like the best of friends in Nazjatar. Also, Tyrande and Thalyssra aren’t the best of friends either. It just seems like a faction merge could be a temporary thing. Half of the characters can’t stand being in the same room for five minutes.

    11 Must-Have Ground Mounts In World of Warcraft

    Let’s talk about the top 11 must-have ground mounts in World of Warcraft.

    This article will cover the mounts I believe are the coolest. Everyone is going to have their favorite mount, and yours may not make the list. Feel free to leave a comment with your favorite mounts. Having the best mounts is a must-have if you want to look cool. Your mount can match your transmog. It can also give you bragging rights. Some mounts no longer exist within the game. I’m going to list the must-have ground mounts that are still obtainable. I won’t be listing mounts you have to buy from the Blizzard store.

    Every must-have ground mount has it’s own requirements to obtain. Some ground mounts may require you to complete rated battlegrounds. Other mounts may require you to farm dungeons or raids. There are easy mounts and hard mounts to get. This list will include a mix of difficulties. Riding around on an epic mount is part of the fun. When your mount is awesome other players may ask you where you got it.

    Some ground mounts are incredibly useful. The most useful mounts have vendor NPCs (non-playable characters) where you can sell items. In a raid, these types of mounts are useful to the group. Then you don’t have to leave the instance to repair it. Not everyone is focused on how useful a mount is though. Maybe you prefer fashionable mounts. These mounts not only match your transmog, but they’re great to show off. The rarer the mount then the more fun it is to AFK (away from keyboard) in Stormwind or Orgrimmar.

    Let’s talk about the top 11 must-have ground mounts for World of Warcraft.

    Top 11 Ground Mounts In World Of Warcraft

    11. Swift Spectral Tiger

    alt="swift spectral tiger wowhead"/>

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    The Swift Spectral Tiger looks so pretty. It didn’t make number 1 on this list because of how you obtain it. This mount is only obtainable from the WoW TCG Loot. Blizzard has stopped making the trading card game, but if you’re willing to search and spend real money, then you can find this mount on eBay. The mount was lootable from inside of the Fire of Outland card set. You can buy, sell, or trade this mount because it’s not soulbound until you use it.

    10. Raven Lord

    alt="raven lord wowhead"/>

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    The Raven Lord mount drops from Anzu in Sethekk Halls on heroic difficulty. During the Burning Crusade expansion, you needed a Druid in your party to summon Anzu. Today you don’t need a Druid because Anzu is always available. The drop rate for the mount is less than 1%. What doesn’t make sense is that the Raven Lord mount doesn’t fly. It’s a cross between a raptor and a bird. Maybe Blizzard will make this a flyable mount someday.

    9. Reins of the Obsidian Krolusk

    alt="reins of the obsidian krolusk wowpedia"/>

    Screenshot from Wowpedia.com

    Reins of the Obsidian Krolusk is only obtainable from the Glory of the Wartorn Hero achievement. You earn the achievement by completing Battle for Azeroth’s mythic dungeons. This mount won’t be easy to get even if you do Mythics. It’s going to take a while to complete all the achievements on the list. The hard work will certainly pay off though, so good luck!

    8. Grove Defiler

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    The Grove Defiler is an awesome looking elderhorn. He’s been corrupted by the Nightmare from the Emerald Dream, which has given him a unique red skin. To get this eerie-looking mount, you’ll need to earn Glory of the Legion Raider achievement. It’s the first raid-achievement reward in Legion.

    7. Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak

    alt="Top 11 must-have ground mounts in world of warcraft - reins of the grand expedition yak wowhead"/>

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    Now let’s talk about number seven in the top 11 must-have ground mounts in the World of Warcraft. The Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak isn’t the cutest mount. It made this list because of its usefulness. The yak is a three-person mount that includes vendors. It’s great for questing with friends because it can hold three people. Vendor mounts are always useful for raiding because you can repair your armor. This mount is similar to the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth. Both mounts can fit three people and they have vendors. To buy the Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak, you’ll need to travel to Kun’Lai Summit in Pandaria. Uncle Bigpocket sells the mount for 120,000 gold.

    6. Steelbound Devourer

    alt="Top 11 must-have ground mounts in world of warcraft - steelbound devourer wowhead"/>

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    The Steelbound Devourer is core hound mount. It’s a recolor of the 10th-anniversary edition core hound. The fel green skin looks really cool. To obtain this mount you’ll need a Blacksmith to craft the harness. Tichondrius drops the Blacksmithing plans in the Nighthold raid. Run the raid in any difficulty, but be aware that the drop rate is low. Crafting the harness requires a Legion Blacksmithing skill of 100. If you’re a Blacksmith you can sell the harness on the Auction House for huge profits. Creating the harness requires you to have the following ingredients:

    • 100 Demonsteel Bars
    • 50 Blood of Sargeras
    • 10 Infernal Brimstone
    • 10 Felhide

    5. Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth

    alt="Top 11 must-have ground mounts in world of warcraft - traveler's tundra mammoth wowhead"/>

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    The Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth is similar to the Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak. It’s higher on the list because of nostalgia. When I started playing WoW during Wrath I remember my friends showing me around on this mount. If you’re looking for a three-seater mount that has vendors on board, then this mount is for you.

    4. Ironbound Wraithcharger

    alt="Top 11 must-have ground mounts in world of warcraft - ironbound wraithchrager wowhead"/>

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    Number four on the top 11 ground mounts in World of Warcraft is the Ironbound Wraithcharger. This mount is only available during the Wrath of the Lich King timewalking event. Salanar the Horseman created this awesome mount. He is one of Dark Riders of Acherus. We saw him during the Death Knight starter zone where he sends players to the Realm of Shadows to get the Death Charger. We see Salanar again during the Legion expansion. The Ebon Blade recruited him to make new mounts for the Four Horsemen. To buy the Ironbound Wraithcharger, you’ll need to visit Auzin in Dalaran during the LK timewalking. Auzin is the time walking vendor in Dalaran. You don’t use gold to purchase this mount, but you’ll need 5000 time-warped badges.

    3. The Vicious Kaldorei Warsaber (Alliance Only)

    alt="Top 11 must-have ground mounts in world of warcraft - vicious kaldorei warsaber from wowhead"/>

    Screenshot from Wowhead.com

    Next is the Vicious Kaldorei Warsaber. This sweet mount is a huge upgrade from the normal Night Elven warsabers. It’s an armored mount and is carrying an Alliance flag. The Vicious Kaldorei Warsaber is faction specific. You can only obtain this mount if you play Alliance. To purchase this mount you must reach the PvP rank combatant. Once you reach the combatant rank then you’ll need to win more matches within the same season. If your progress bar reaches 100% then you’ll receive the mount for the current season. Each time you fill your progress bar in a season, then you’ll receive a Vicious Saddle. The saddle is what you need to be able to purchase the Vicious Kaldorei Warsaber. You can find Necrolord Sipe, the Combatant Mount Quartermaster, in Stormwind City.

    2. Rivendare’s Deathcharger

    alt="Top 11 must-have ground mounts in world of warcraft - rivendare's death charger from warcraftmounts.com"/>

    Screenshot from Warcraftmounts.com

    The Rivendare’s Deathcharager is one of the oldest and coolest mounts in the game. You can obtain this intimidating mount from the Stratholme dungeon. This mount drops from Lord Rivendare. It has also appeared on the Black Market Auction House. Rivendare’s Deathcharger used to be one of the rarest mounts in the game. During Vanilla WoW, the drop rate was 0.2 percent. If you wish to obtain this mount today just run Stratholme until you go nuts. You can reset the instance and run it as often as you wish. The Rivendare’s Deathcharger is so worth it. If you play Alliance you’ll be happy to receive this mount, because only Undead mounts have this look. The deathcharager comes in a unique blue color which makes it look more threatening and cool.

    1. Invincible

    alt="Top 11 must-have ground mounts in world of warcraft - picture of invincible from warcraftmounts.com"/>

    Screenshot from Warcraftmounts.com

    For the final mount in the Top 11 must-have ground mounts in the World of Warcraft, we must talk about Invincible. He’s not invisible unless you count the fact the drop rate is low. Invincible is the Lich King’s’ mount. The horse works as both a ground mount and a flying mount. This creepy and cool mount is obtained by defeating the Lich King in Icecrown Citadel. Arthas loved this mount so much that there’s a song for it. In the book Arthas: Rise of the Lich King book by Christie Golden, we learn how important this mount was to Arthas. He saw the horse’s birth, and he mourned his death. You can still visit Invincible’s grave within the game. The drop rate is extremely low for this mount. Just from the storyline alone, this mount is so worth having.

  • WoW Classic DDoS Attacker In Custody

    WoW Classic DDoS Attacker In Custody

    The WoW Classic DDoS attacker is in custody. On September 7, 2019, Blizzard servers were the target of a DDoS attack. The attacker claimed to be apart of the group UkDrillas.  This caused players and Blizzard a major headache. For many players, the weekends are the only time to play. These types of attacks aren’t amusing in the slightest. Players lose valuable time, and Blizzard loses money. Thankfully he’s been caught.

    What is a DDoS Attack?

    alt="blizzard is stopping wow classic layering - westfall"/>

    DDoS stands for Distributed Denial of Service. When an attack strikes it overloads the system with Trojans. This would crash any computer system or server. Blizzard community manager Kaivax posted on the forums where he confirmed the culprit had been caught.

    UkDrillas isn’t the first group to attack Blizzard. Just last year another attacker was sentenced. The sentence was for a year in prison, and he was also charged a $30,000 fine. He pleaded guilty for one count of causing damage to a protected computer. It’s really not worth going to jail for attacking Blizzard’s servers.
