World of Warcraft Patch 8.2.5 Content Update Notes

    alt="affiliate disclosure with I"/>

Blizzard has released the World of Warcraft patch 8.2.5 content update notes. The notes are jam-packed with Warcraft goodies. You can recruit friends with the new recruit a friend program, and you can earn the new Obsidian Worldbreaker mount. Patch 8.2.5 will come out just on September 24th for the US, and September 25th for the EU. It’s just in time for the 15th anniversary, which means Blizzard added lots of fun things for players to do. World of Warcraft’s 15th Anniversary has me stoked.

We’re finally going to see the new Bee mount called the Honeyback Harvester. The mount was shown at BlizzCon last year. This new patch will also include new raids, and it will conclude the War Campaign. So we’ll finally have our burning questions answered where Sylvanas is concerned. We’ll also be teaming up with Wrathion (the Black Prince) to help us with N’Zoth. The Old God will become an even larger problem soon, and we’ll need as many allies as we can get.

Lunar Festival is receiving an update. We’ll be able to complete the Rite of the Moon. This exciting adventure will take you around the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor as you help an old Druid bless her Staff of Moonflowers. Your reward is an enchantment to your flower crown so it never dies, and so you can transmog them year-round. Patch 8.2.5 has even more juicy goodness to discuss. So let’s go!

    World of Warcraft’s 15th Anniversary

alt="World of Warcraft Patch 8.2.5 Content Update Notes - Azsuna"/>

For the anniversary we’ll all receive a gift when we log into the game. This year’s anniversary gift is the Lil’ Nefarian Pet. It looks like a black dragon whelpling. Your characters will gain an increase in experience and reputation as part of the Celebration Package. The event will give us an item, and it’ll teleport us to the Caverns of Time. It’ll only be available during the event. We can’t forget the fireworks! The package will also give you a reusable firework only usable during the event.

New Raids: Taking a Trip Down Memory Lane

We’re also getting an awesome new raid. Chromie has separated the strands of time, which means we’ll be able to take part in past raid encounters. These epic encounters will be from the Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm expansions. There will be three iconic bosses in each raid. You’ll be able to access them through the raid finder. Be sure your item level is at least 380 or you won’t be able to participate in the event. Completing the event will award you the achievement Memories of Fel, Frost, and Fire. The achievement awards you the Obsidian Worldbreaker mount.

Be sure to check out this Funko Pop Games: Deathwing Figure on Amazon.com.

Alterac Valley: Revisiting Old School Battleground

Alterac Valley will be inspired by its original version for the anniversary event. If you’re a mount collector than this is awesome. Completing Korrak’s Revenge gets you the Alterac Valley of Olde achievement. This awards you with the Stormpke Battle Ram (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Snarler (Horde).

    Recruit a Friend Returns

    Controversy

Blizzard is bringing back the Recruit a Friend program. There’s been conflict over the new Recruit a Friend in the fandom lately. Many players have expressed concern about the new backpack and Indiana Jones-style clothing. Players are saying they’ve asked for this transmog option for years, and they don’t feel it’s fair to lock it behind a paywall. Lately, Blizzard has monetized World of Warcraft heavily. We’re seeing an increase in virtual products like in-game mounts.

alt="World of Warcraft Blade Server - mount hyjal lake"/>

It would’ve made perfect sense as a reward for the Archaeology profession. What’s worse is you don’t get the rewards unless your friend pays for game time, which means I do understand where they’re coming from. It’s the same way I feel about allied races. Blizzard is a mega-rich company, so as a result, they’re going to prioritize profit. As fellow players, we just need to be understanding and not mock each other. For example, I may not like allied races because I feel I’m getting less for my money, but I can understand why someone wants to work to unlock a new character.

    Recruit a Friend Details

alt="World of Warcraft Blade Server - mount hyjal"/>

We’ll be able to recruit up to 10 friends with the new program. The old program was limited to recruiting new players. This new version will allow you to recruit veteran players who haven’t played in two years or more. You’ll receive a 50% bonus in leveling experience if you party with your friend, and summon each other every 30 minutes.

To invite your friends you can generate a custom link. The link will help you guys connect, and you’ll be able to see when they buy game time. You’ll receive more rewards they longer they’re subscription stays active. For every month your friend is subscribed there are new rewards. They will scale with the amount of time your friends are subscribed.

    Rewards

    • 1st Month – Rikki – He’s Monkey companion pet.
    • 2nd Month – Game Time
    • 3rd Month – Explorere’s Dunetrekker – A two-seater camel mount.
    • 4th Month – Title: Renowned Explorer
    • 5th Month – Game Time
    • 6th Month – Enchant: Stinging Sands – A weapon enchant that adds Swirling Sands to it.
    • 7th Month – Renowned Explorer’s Tabard
    • 8th Month – Game Time
    • 9th Month – Explorer’s Jungle Hopper – A two-seater flying mount.
    • 10th Month – Renowned Explorer’s Rucksack – It’s a backpack you can use for transmog.
    • 11th Month – Game Time
    • 12th Month -Renowned Explorer’s Attire – You can transmog your toon to look like a rugged outdoors person (Indiana Jones inspired attire).

    Party Sync

alt="take a dive into the emerald dream on warcraftlover pin"/>

We’re also getting a new feature called Party Sync. If you Recruit a Friend it’ll allow you to play any character you want by scaling your level down to theirs. Party Sync will also allow you to ‘replay old quest’s with your friends. These quests can be completed once per day and will give you rewards appropriate to your current level.

You can also join your friends in instanced content like Battlegrounds and Raids. The Party Sync will scale your level down so you guys can do the instanced content together. You’ll temporarily lose access to high-level abilities like Azerite power, and traits, trinkets, and spells which are stronger than your reduced level. Party Sync can be accessed from the new Recruit a Friend panel. It’ll help you keep track of your next reward, and lists special activities. If you complete the in-game challenges with your recruits, then you’ll earn more rewards.

    New Timewalking Raids

We’re also getting Firelands as a new timewalking raid. Players at the max-level can form groups to enter the raid at Sulfron Spire. Your gear and power will be scaled down. So you’ll be able to fight the bosses when they’re challenging.

Makeovers for Worgen and Goblin Character Models

alt="World of Warcraft Patch 8.2.5 Content Update Notes - female worgen model"/>

Worgen and Goblin character models are getting a refresh. You can view the new Worgen and Goblin models in Wowhead’s dressing room. The female Worgen model looks much nicer. They’re more expressive and look more alive.

alt="World of Warcraft Patch 8.2.5 Content Update Notes - male worgen model"/>

Both the male and female Worgen models have better-looking eyes. Worgen also has new running and casting animations. There are also new faces which include claw marks and scars.

alt="World of Warcraft Patch 8.2.5 Content Update Notes - female goblin model"/>

Goblins are looking okay. I’ve played a Goblin hunter since Cataclysm. I’m not sure how to feel about the new look yet. Many of the old looks aren’t available. Hopefully, I won’t feel as if I’m playing a new character when these changes go live.

    World Quests and War Campaign

If you’ve leveled up your Heart of Azeroth to level 70, then World Quests will now award gold or war resources.

All Reputation requirements are removed from the following War Campaign quests:

      • Alliance:
      • β€œCrippling the Horde”
      • β€œOur Next Target”
      • β€œIntercepted Orders”
      • β€œBringing Down the Fleet”
      • β€œSensitive Intel”
      • β€œThe Abyssal Scepter”
      • β€œThe Fall of Zuldazar”
      • Horde:
      • β€œA Stroll Through a Cemetery”
      • β€œTracking Tidesages”
      • β€œJourney to the Middle of Nowhere”
      • β€œWhen a Plan Comes Together”
      • β€œA Mech for a Goblin”
      • β€œBreaking Out Ashvane”
      • β€œWar Is Here”
    • You can gain access to the War Campaign quest β€œStay of Execution” easier because Nazjatar companions don’t need to reach level 3.

Black Market Auction House: More Goodies!

alt="World of Warcraft Patch 8.2.5 Content Update Notes - Hillsbrad Foothills"/>

The Black Market Auction House (BMAH) is where you can get rare and contraband goods. It’s run by the mysterious Madam Goya. She made her first appearance in World of Warcraft during the Mists of Pandaria expansion. You can find really rare mounts, and hard to obtain armor sets on the Black Market Auction House. In patch 8.2.5 the Black Market Auction House is getting new stuff. It’ll include new enchantment and transmogrifiable gear. There are also new mount listings added. The Grimoire of the Four Winds will no longer be available for purchase.

    Player vs. Player

    Battlegrounds: Epic Ashran

Epic Ashran and Epic Wintergrasp have changed. In Ashran, you can find a new ancient artifact called: Solar Sphere. The faction who gathers the sphere gains a 20% haste while controlled. Fangraal and Kronus cost 3,000 artifact power. They will deal increased damage, and they have a new cleave ability. Reinforcements are reduced from 300 to 150. All melee players within the Road of Glory now receive an increase to health with Front Line Fortitude by 100%. Killing the Ancient Inferno will cause the Ancient Artifact to spawn, which has changed from it randomly spawning on the map.

    Epic Wintergrasp

Vehicles can’t be affected by slow or rooting effects. The Siege Engine has increased health. Catapults also deal with increased damage. Also, mercenaries can no longer benefit from the effects of Enlistment Bonus.

    Bug Fixes

We also have a new round of bug-fixes. We can now kill the poor little chickens outside of Ironforge. Thank goodness this change was addressed. In all seriousness though, be sure to check out the bug fixes because some are important to your class, PvP encounters, and quests.

  • How To Make Gold In WoW Classic

How To Make Gold In WoW Classic

    alt="affiliate disclosure with I"/>

You’re probably wondering how to make gold in WoW Classic. Well, I’ve got you covered. Gold isn’t as simple to make as it is in retail. You’ll want to be careful where you spend your hard-earned copper. We all know every penny counts in Classic. There are simple tricks you can use to make gold faster. Some may depend on your professions and others could depend on your class. I’ve played World of Warcraft since Wrath, and I always made my gold by questing, selling vendor trash, and soloing old content. Occasionally I’d use the Auction House to sell an item because I kept up my Skinning and Leatherworking skill throughout the years.

If you’re hitting level 40 (or 60) congratulations! What a long strange trip it’s been, huh? Too bad money doesn’t really grow on trees, especially when it’s finally time to purchase your mount. If you’ve been spending your money wisely then how to make gold in WoW Classic isn’t going to be much help. You may be able to point your broke friends in the right direction with this article though. So be sure to hit that Share button so it pops up on Twitter.

alt="how to make gold in wow classic pin"/>

How To Make Gold In WoW Classic

    Vendor Trash

alt="how to make gold in wow classic - mulgore"/>

Let’s start at the beginning. I know classic has been out for a few weeks, but how to make gold in WoW Classic deserves to start fresh. Whenever you begin a new character focus on selling gray items and white items you don’t need. Try not to delete anything when in the starter zones. Run back to the vendor when your bags are full. Don’t sell cloth, water, and food. The only stuff I spend money on is to train and repair. You can use the Twitch Client to install the addons Vendor Trash Loot to sell all your vendor trash at once, and the addon Better Vendor Price to ensure you’re selling the item for the best price.

Now I only train for the spells and abilities I’m going to use. For example, if I’m playing a Hunter, I know I won’t use the Aspect of the Monkey ability, so I don’t grab that. I’ll just train in Tracking Beasts and Viper Sting. Whatever class I play I make the same judgments because money is tight. Also, I only repair if I believe my armor is going to break. There’s no need to waste money otherwise. For example, if I’m playing a hunter, I only buy ammo if my ammo is below 60 in the starter zone and if it’s below 100 in the game world. You don’t want to be caught without ammo if you’re in a tricky spot and there’s no vendor nearby, but you also don’t want to waste money.

If you can pick up a profession early on then try and help other players. It doesn’t hurt to offer to make bags, bandages, food, or enchants. Hopefully, other players will tip you. If you do charge be reasonable. Anyone who’s in the starter zone is trying to make money too. It’s a good idea to create an item for another player without expecting something in return. If you do that then you might receive compensation anyway. The spirit of WoW Classic is to help your fellow player so don’t forget that!

    Dungeons

alt="how to make gold in wow classic - stormwind stockades"/>

Dungeons have always been one of my favorite ways to make gold. You can get a lot of vendor trash from dungeons. If you’re in a good dungeon group you’ll be able to breeze through the content. Running dungeons won’t make you rich, but you can certainly sell the spoils on the Auction House. Be sure to only sell green and blue items though. Vendor gray and white items. If you’ve got an Enchanter you can also Disenchant some of the green and blue items too.

    Professions

alt="how to make gold in wow classic - darnassus"/>

Your professions can help you make a killing in WoW Classic. The best way to make gold is gathering professions. If you can find a great spot to farm materials that are in demand you’ll be doing well. Try and focus on the materials people need for potions or cooking. So think about taking on Herbalism or Fishing. Maybe you could find a great spot to farm for Fadeleaf. To keep better track of your professions you can install the Titan Panel addon [Professions] in the Twitch Client.

The cloth is great to sell on the Auction House. Tailoring and First-Aid require a lot of stacks to make anything. Most humanoids in the game world drop them. I’ve received cloth, wool, and silk from humans, trolls, and gnomes so far. It might be a good idea to farm that kind of enemies when they’re at a lower level than you. You don’t want to waste time running back to your corpse, nor do you want to waste money on a massive repair bill.

Ore is always in high demand. Engineers and Blacksmiths both need ore to craft items. If you’re able to farm Ore during your servers quiet hours then this might help you. Most servers are quite early in the morning or late at night. You don’t have to farm all night, I’d just farm for about 30 minutes. Try and figure out a route which works for you and goes with that. If you’re farming in a zone that’s a lower level than you, you might not be stopped as often by enemies. Hopefully, a PvP server will be quieter at this time as well so you won’t be ganked.

Enchanting is good to learn. Not only can you Disenchant items to sell, but your Enchanting skill will scale as you level. At a high level, Enchanting is important for armor. You’ll be really happy you leveled it up. Trust me.

How To Make Gold In WoW Classic: Auction House

alt="how to make gold in wow classic - stormwind auction house"/>

Making gold from the Auction House is smart. It can also be a bad move. Learning the Auction House takes time. You can buy items off the Auction House and resell them at a higher price. If you do this incorrectly though you’ll lose money. You must understand when a product is gaining value. To better understand the Auction House and how it works you may want to reference this subreddit /r/woweconomy. The subreddit explains how the World of Warcraft economy works throughout the entire series. You may also want to do more research into how the WoW Classic economy works. Consider installing the Auctioneer addon with the Twitch client to help you watch your auctions.

    Mage Portals and Meals

alt="how to make gold in wow classic - stormwind mage portal"/>

Mage portals are great for business. If you’re playing a mage be sure to offer your services in trade chat. Make sure your prices are more reasonable than your competitors. Retail put Mages out of business when flight and portal rooms were introduced. WoW Classic doesn’t have all those conveniences which means a Mage’s services are once again required. I like to imagine Mage’s are like the Uber or Lyft of World of Warcraft. Should we title it Muber or Myft?

You could also charge a reasonable fee for food and drink. Honestly, it’s probably best to do this for free, but if you’re really strapped for cash you could ask for a small tip. The spirit of WoW Classic is to be helpful though don’t forget!

    Rogue: Lock Boxes

alt="how to make gold in wow classic - mulgore"/>

As a Rogue, your lock-picking skills can come in handy, and I don’t mean by pick-pocketing an unsuspecting adventurer. You could offer to open lockboxes for a reasonable fee. If you don’t charge for the service another player may tip you for it anyway. Most WoW Classic players are usually friendly. Don’t be surprised if you do receive a tip as a thank you. Also, the addon Lockbox Cracker claims to make a Rogue’s life easier when a lock box is traded in the will not trade slot. If you try this addon leave a comment and tell us how it worked out for you.

Pencils of Promise is a for-purpose organization which was founded in 2008. Their goal is to increase access to quality education for children around the world. They work with communities to build schools and create programs. These programs provide educational opportunities for students, no matter where they are born or what resources they have. So far, Pencils of Promise has built more than 500 schools and currently serves more than 100,000 students throughout Ghana, Guatemala, and Laos. They’ve established themselves as a leader amongst the innovative global nonprofits working toward a sustainable social change. You can learn more about the organization on their website.Β  If you buy a blade server, 100% of the sale price goes to Pencils of Promise.

Β What Is a Server Blade?

A blade server is where World of Warcraft realms are hosted. Blizzard uses an HP BladeSystem, which combines server, storage, network, power, and management capabilities into an integrated system. These blades provided the processing power and hardware to run the game from 2010-2016. You won’t be able to purchase a specific server because of advancements in technology. Many realms are held on the same server today, which is different than the original blade servers which housed Vanilla, the Burning Crusade, and the Wrath of the Lich King expansions. Each blade server has a decorated plexiglass cover and a World of Warcraft 15th Anniversary plaque.

The Blade server isn’t functional and contains no data. So you can forget about running any illegal World of Warcraft realms at home. You will need to pay for shipping costs. If you order a blade server it may take up to 12-15 weeks to receive it in the mail. The blade server should come in an awesome 15th-anniversary custom packaging and a brown box with foam to protect it during shipping. Be sure to contact customer support if you run into any problems with your order.

  • Most Interesting Zones In WoW Classic

Most Interesting Zones In WoW Classic

    alt="affiliate disclosure with I"/>

It’s so hard to rank the most interesting zones in WoW Classic because there are so many awesome ones. The fandom is bursting with excitement to either relive old memories or to try WoW Classic for the first time.

I started World of Warcraft during Wrath, so I feel as If I’ve experienced the best of both worlds. The old world zones were still available to play in during Wrath, and I got to travel to Northend and face the Lich King. But after Cataclysm everything changed.

The zones won’t be ranked in any particular order, as it’s impossible to really say which zone is number one. Zones are picked for their beauty, ambiance, lore, and music, some zones may have more of one than the other.

So, let’s check out the most interesting zones in WoW Classic.

See for yourself the Destroyer’s power when you discover the Funko Pop Games: WoW Oversized Deathwing Figure from Amazon.com

    alt="make love not warcraft pin"/>

Most Interesting Zones In WoW Classic: Kalimdor Zones

Now, Kalimdor isn’t a zone, it’s a continent, but it has a cool ancient vibe to it. With the Tauren and Night Elves living on the land, it has a rich history. There are many ancient ruins scattered throughout Kalimdor, and it’s a shame the Cataclysm changed a few zones forever. Kalimdor is home to the Orcs, Night Elves, Tauren, and Trolls.

    Mulgore

alt="the most interesting zones in wow classic - mulgore"/>

Mulgore is the Tauren starting zone and it’s beautiful. The land is full of lush green fields and sunny skies. Whenever I’m in Mulgore I feel relaxed, especially while I’m questing. Mulgore is home to the Tauren city of Thunderbluff, and this impressive city sits above the zone on tall rocks. There’s an awesome lift (elevator) which brings you up to the city, and you can’t miss the totem poles which grace the sky.

The noble Tauren have a unique tribal culture. During the events of Warcraft III, the Tauren settled in Mulgore because of the centaurs which threatened their lands. Mulgore is a great zone to quest in if you’d like to know more about the Tauren culture. They share a bond with the Earth Mother, and like their Night Elven neighbors, are experienced in Druidism. So the Tauren shares a powerful connection with nature.

All in all, Mulgore has a cool vibe and it’s worth visiting even if you’re not playing a Tauren.

    Dustwallow Marsh

alt="the most interesting zones in wow classic - dustwallow marsh"/>

There is something unsettling about Dustwallow Marsh. It’s home to Theramore, a city created by the human Archmage Jaina Proudmoore. Questing in Dustwallow Marsh during Wrath made me watch my back. You could be eaten by crocodiles, or attacked by an enemy from your blindside.

Dustwallow Marsh has a chilling vibe because you never know what’s lurking. It’s dark, dank, and miserable, and it certainly left an impact on me during Wrath. So, I’m excited to quest here again in Classic.

The Missing Diplomat quest line brings you to Dustwallow Marsh. It’s an epic quest chain, so if you’re playing Alliance, feel free to pick it up.

    The Barrens

alt="the most interesting places in wow classic - the barrens"/>

Next in the most interesting zones in WoW Classic is the Barrens, which is a gigantic barren field. If you play an Orc, Troll, or Tauren, you’ll find yourself in the Barrens at some point. As a central hub for Horde players, the Barrens became a social area. Many fans are aware of the famous Chuck Norris jokes. We’re also aware of the quest involving Mankirk’s wife, which has also become a running joke in the fandom.

As the Barrens is such a large zone, it became a place for Horde players to hang out, and for Alliance, players to stage raids. It’ll be exciting to experience the Barrens the way they were in Vanilla WoW. By the time I joined WoW during Wrath, I only knew of stories about how awesome the Barrens used to be, and I can’t wait to see it for myself.

    Darkshore

Darkshore has the best views of the moon. The zone is dark, but it’s not unwelcoming. During Wrath, I traveled to Auberdine and caught the boats to the Eastern Kingdoms. Sadly, the Cataclysm destroyed Auberdine, and Darkshore hasn’t felt the same since then. It’s like the zone is missing some of its magic. Relaxing in the inn and gazing outside to the long pier used to be so nice.

You might consider the World of Warcraft Wall Calendar at Amazon.com before the year ends and enjoy the stunning pictures!

    Eastern Kingdoms Zones

The Eastern Kingdoms are home to the undead, humans, gnomes, and dwarfs. It’s composed of three subcontinents: Lordaeron, Khaz Modan, and Azeroth.

    Eastern Plaguelands

alt="most interesting zones in wow classic - light's hope chapel"/>

The Eastern Plaguelands were once part of the fallen Kingdom of Lordaeron. This part of the continent was hit the hardest when Prince Arthas Menethil allied himself with the Scourge and destroyed his own kingdom.

Now, the Eastern Plaguelands aren’t pretty. They’re on this list because of the quest lines, and all the lore specific locations. Rewriting the Battle of Darrowshire is a quest chain that stuck with me from Wrath, and it was also available in Vanilla. We help Chromie attempt to rewrite a small portion of history.

It’s also nice to visit Light’s Hope Chapel, which is an iconic place in WoW lore. Of course, I can’t forget to mention the city of Stratholme. In Warcraft III, we played as Arthas when he purged the city, as the citizens were infected with the plague of undeath. In Classic, Stratholme has fallen, and the city is now overrun by the undead.

    Stranglethorn Vale

alt="most interesting zones in wow classic - stranglethorn vale"/>

Next in the most interesting zones in WoW Classic is Stranlethorn Vale. If you like jungles, pirates, and sketchy goblins then Strangelthorn Vale is an awesome hangout. It’s home to Booty Bay, where you’ll find pirates and goblins trying to make a buck.

Stranglethorn Vale is a fun zone if you’re into Player vs. Player combat (PvP). The Gurubashi Arena is in the zone, and you can fight the opposing faction over a treasure reward.

You can catch the boat from Booty Bay to Ratchet, which is in the Barrens. Booty Bay is a neutral hub so Horde and Alliance can use the port freely.

    Duskwood

    alt="wow classic sharding it's coming'/>

Duskwood is a creepy zone. This zone made the list because of its ambiance and it’s questing. Whenever I needed to enter Duskwood in Wrath, I always entered cautiously. Just looking down the road in this zone would fill me with dread, because of the fog which covered everything. You can do the awesome Hermit quest chain here, which ends in a gruesome surprise. The zone is probably the first creepy zone you run across as an Alliance player. Feel free to check it out.

    Hillsbrad Foothills

alt="most interesting zones in wow classic - hillsbrad foothills"/>

This beautiful forest zone was all that was left from the Kingdom of Lordaeron. It was left untouched by the undead scourge, which meant there were still human settlements like Southshore there. Hillsbrad Foothills became known as the bloodiest zone in the game. Undead players from Tirisfal Glades and dwarven players from Arathi Highlands used to clash her often on PvP servers. If you’re looking to quest here, it’s best to avoid the zone at a low level, because of all the PvP taking place.

  • Blizzard Is Stopping WoW Classic Layering Abuse

Blizzard Is Stopping WoW Classic Layering Abuse

    alt="affiliate disclosure with I"/>

Blizzard is stopping WoW Classic layering abuse. Some WoW Classic players used the layering system as a tool to level faster. Layering was introduced in Classic, but retail WoW uses a technology called sharding and they aren’t the same. For a while, I thought that sharding and layering were the same until Blizzard clarified the difference in the WoW Classic AMA a few weeks ago.

When you log into WoW Classic you enter a layer. Basically, a layer is whatever copy of the game world you’re playing on. When you log in you’ll only see players who’re in the same layer. As long as you don’t log out or join a group in another layer, then you should stay within the same layer as you play through the game world. Which means you’ll see the same people as you journey through Azeroth.

Sharding is similar but different. You can be ‘sharded’ to another version of a zone. This occurs when there are either too many or too few players in your area. Sharding is supposed to make sure you never are alone in a zone. It’s because of sharding that we see players pop up and disappear in front of us. It’s nice to know we’re not alone, but of course, it comes with a price. That price was losing the community aspect of WoW.

The first player to hit level 60 was Jokerd and he exploited layering.Β  Players who exploited the system were joining groups in different layers. This allowed them to fight the same mobs over again without waiting for them to respawn. Doing it this way meant they were receiving more experience points which meant they could level faster. Naturally, Blizzard was going to find this problematic.

Blizzard Is Stopping WoW Classic Layering Abuse

alt="blizzard is stopping wow classic layering - the barrens"/>

Abusing layering in this way is certainly cheating. It goes against the spirit of WoW Classic. Blizzard has cracked down on anything which would ruin the authentic Classic experience. They’ve already stated they’ll add restrictions to the Classic LFG add-on. Classic LFG worked similar to retail WoW’s looking for group feature which means it helped players find people for group content.

Vanilla WoW didn’t have such systems as players were required to find their own groups and get to know other players on their servers. Many fans are also hoping to see a crackdown on the Spy Classic add-on which aids players in PvP encounters. Spy Classic alerts you when an enemy player is nearby. The add-on can tell you their race, class, and level. You can fix the add-on to even announce an enemy’s presence in chat channels.

Blizzard said on the WoW forums that the WoW Classic layering abuse isn’t bad. Apparently, realms only have a single-digit number of layers. Which must mean they don’t go over ten. This also means that most players aren’t using the layering to level faster or to farm more herbs and ore. Also, doing /who in your chat box won’t tell you how many people are on your layer. That’s because the realm population is what shows in the search results.

    DDoS Attack

alt="blizzard is stopping wow classic layering abuse - menethil harbor"/>

It’s great that Blizzard is stopping WoW Classic layering abuse, but I wish they could stop DDoS attackers. Yesterday, WoW Classic servers were attacked which kicked all the players offline. Not only were WoW Classic servers impacted but so was Diablo 3 and Overwatch. Blizzard spent the whole day scrambling to fix their servers. The person responsible hasn’t been confirmed, but a twitter user claimed to be doing the attacks. He sent out a tweet to warn everyone. His target was Twitch streamers, and the attacker also went after Twitch servers too.

  • WoW Classic Servers Down In DDoS Attack

WoW Classic Servers Down In DDoS Attack

EDIT: Most WoW Classic servers are back up.

EDIT: Twitter has suspended UkDrillas account.

Yesterday, September 7, 2019, WoW Classic Servers were down in DDoS attacks. Blizzard is under a massive attack as World of Warcraft, Overwatch and Diablo 3 servers are down. On the World of Warcraft forums, Blizzard posted a message to players letting them know what was going on. Apparently, UkDrillas the attacker has posted on Twitter that he’s taken down Overwatch servers as well. He purposely attacked Faerlina which is a popular server for many Twitch streamers. Players were so confused about what was happening that they posted on Reddit and asked what was going on.

alt="take a dive into the emerald dream on warcraftlover pin"/>

What Does This Attack Mean For You?

alt="professions in wow classic and why you need one"/>

A DDoS attack means a network is unable to be reached. The attacker does this by sending so much traffic to a server that it becomes overwhelming. So basically it’s like an early morning traffic jam. This is different than a Denial of Service (DoS) attack which only comes from one computer. A DDoS attack is a lot harder to stop because it’s sent from multiple computers worldwide.

Blizzard is working quickly to solve the problem. It’s also impacting Diablo 3 and Overwatch. In May of last year, Calin Mateias was sentenced to a year in US prison for a DDoS attack he launched on World of Warcraft servers in 2010. He also had to pay about $30,000 to Blizzard for the damages that he caused. If UkDrillas really is doing this then they are certainly bold.

Please feel free to leave a comment about how the DDoS attack has affected you. We’d love to hear your thoughts.

All we can do for now is wait for Blizzard to solve the problem. This isn’t the first DDoS attack on WoW servers so Blizzard can fix this. Many of these hackers are probably seeking their 15 seconds of shame. We know what happens to people who screw up Blizzard servers thanks to Calin Meteias. It’s a costly mistake and hopefully, more people realize it’s not a great idea.

UkDrillas has also begun to attack Twitch servers too. So if you’re wondering why you can’t stream or why your favorite streamers are offline, then the attack is probably the reason.

  • WoW Classic PvP Content Schedule

    WoW Classic PvP Content Schedule

    alt="affiliate disclosure with I"/>

The WoW Classic PvP content schedule doesn’t have any dates, but Blizzard has given PvP players insight on what to expect. WoW Classic won’t have a formal PvP (player vs. player) system currently. So as a result, you should be able to PvP freely. There are no Dishonorable Kills, but this will change once phase 2 of the WoW Classic content plan rolls out.

Phase 2 will introduce the Honor System. The Honor System gives you Honorable Kills (Contribution Points) for you or a teammate killing someone on the opposing faction. Within the Honor System is Honorable Kills, Dishonorable Kills, and PvP Rank Rewards. There are 14 ranks and you can monitor your progress by checking the Honor Tab. To move higher in the rankings you’ll have to PvP often and it takes time to earn a good rank.

Achieving a high rank means you’ll be able to earn epic gear. As a result, normally the best players are the ones expected to have awesome armor sets. The amount of time needed to earn the gear is a testament to a player’s dedication. Killing the same player lots of times in a single day will award less honor. To avoid killing the same player too many times, try and participate in shorter battles like Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch. Battles like Alterac Valley where you can easily rack up 1,000 honorable kills in a few hours won’t help you earn more points.

To participate in a Battleground be sure to visit a Battlemaster NPC for your faction. You can find the Alliance Battlmasters in Stormwind Keep, Warrior’s Terrace in Darnassus, and the Military Ward in Ironforge. The Horde Battlemasters are in the Hall of the Brave in Orgrimmar, Hunter Rise in Thunderbluff, and The Royal Quarter in Undercity.

WoW Classic PvP Content Schedule: Phases

    alt="wow classic content schedule - tarren mill"/>

After phase 2 releases the Honor System, you can then prepare for phase 3 which will bring us the first battlegrounds. They are Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch. The vendors for those battlegrounds will become available as well. The vendors will have the updates which pertain to patch 1.12. So they may not have certain items like Spell Penetration trinkets which you could purchase in patch 1.9 during Vanilla WoW. Blizzard is planning to add the trinket and move to phase 5.

    Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch

Alterac Valley is using the patch 1.12 version. By this point, Blizzard had tuned and adjusted the battleground. So as a result, there will be no enforcement. Commanders and Lieutenants haven’t been removed. The only objectives are to kill the enemy factions general which is Drek’thar in Frostwolf Keep (Horde General), and Vanndar Stormpike in Dun Baldar (Alliance General).

Warsong Gulch requires you to be at least level 10. The Battleground is located in the southern region of the Ashenvale forest. Your objective is to capture the flag. Communication with your team is vital. There are three power-ups available to you. Beserkering increases all damage by 30%, all damage is taken by 10% and increases your size by 10%. It lasts for 1 min. Restoration will rejuvenate your health and mana for 10% for 10 seconds. If you’re attacked or you attack someone the effect will be canceled. The final buff is Speed which increases your movement speed by 100% for 10 seconds.

Phase 4 will bring us the Arathi Basin. The Horde and Alliance are competing for valuable resources. It’s a fast-paced battleground and your objective is to secure five resource nodes. These nodes include the stables, the farm, the lumber mill, the blacksmith, and the gold mine. A node will only yield it’s resources once it’s captured. Level 20 or higher is required to enter the battleground.

    World PvP Objectives

    alt="wow classic content schedule - wetlands"/>

World PvP objectives will begin in phase 6 with the release of Naxxramas which hovers over the Eastern Plaguelands. You’ll find World PvP objectives in Eastern Plaguelands and Sillithus. In the Eastern Plaugelands, you can participate in “A Game of Towers” which is A Game of Thrones reference. The objective is to secure the four towers on the map. Of course, if you have more members of your faction in the area you have a better chance of success. Hunt down players from the opposing faction to ensure your towers are safe. For each tower, your faction holds all members of your faction will receive the “Echos of Lordaeron” buff.

In Sillithus you’ll be taking part in “The Sillithyst Must Flow” which is a reference to the film Dune. The film made the phrase “The Spice Must Flow” popular. In the film, spice refers to a valuable resource that is obtained from a desert plant, therefore the plant is a reference to Sillithus which is a desert zone.

The objective of Sillithus World PvP encounter is to collect Sillthyst. Therefore you must locate a geyser and pick it up. Each faction has their own turn in point on the map. Attacking enemy players allows you to pick up their Sillthyst. All players can only carry one Sillthyst at a time. The first faction which gains 200 Sillthyst wins. Players will receive 20 Reputation with Cenarion Circle, and 3 Honor Points for turning in the Sillithyst. A zone-wide buff increases Ceneraion Circle Reputation gained by killing monsters from 25% and will be applied to the winning faction.

    What are Disnhonorable Kills?

Killing the opposing factions civilian NPC’s will give you a dishonorable kill. These NPC’s are normally vendors or quest givers and will have a ‘civilian’ tag next to their name. A dishonorable kill lowers your Honor rating. Too many dishonorable kills will cost you a PvP rank. This system is supposed to prevent players from griefing other players.

Fun Places to PvP in the Open Game World

You don’t have to wait for the WoW Classic PvP content schedule to PvP. There are a few notable places in WoW Classic where you’ll find PvP on your server. One famous zone is in Hillsbrad Foothills in the Eastern Kingdoms. You’ll see players fighting between Tarren Mill and Southshore. Alliance players will need to head North from Ironforge to reach the continent of Lordaeron. Horde players may come down from the Undercity. Players usually clash in this zone because it’s highly contested territory. There’s no Battlemaster or official Battleground in the zone, but it’s a place where players enjoy engaging in PvP. More fun zones include Ashenvale, Stranglethorn Vale, Un’Goro Crater, Tanaris, and Burning Steppes.

Blizzard will be offering a WoW Classic free character move service. The free character moves will be available in the coming days. Players on high or full populated servers can move to a lower populated server. Blizzard is hoping this will cut down on a log in queues. The option to move will pop up either on the character select screen or the queue screen. You’re unable to change realms if you’re a guild leader, have active auctions or bids, or if you have mail. Here’s aΒ list of realms available for the free transfer.

This is welcome news since some realms have seen hours-long queues. The popularity of WoW Classic is a great thing for Blizzard and the community, but this will alleviate some of the stress on the more popular realms. WoW also managed to break another record, because it’s only one of four titles to surpass 30 million hours watched. Warcraft clocked in a whopping 55 million hours. The other three games to break the 30 million mark are Fortnite, Dota 2, and Apex Legends.

Many Twitch streamers have switched over to WoW Classic. Viewers were glued to their screens as they watched Jokerd become the first level 60. A European guild called APES was also the first guild to beat Ragnaros in Molten Core. APES also defeated the black dragon Onxyia in Onyxia’s Lair. • Possible World of Warcraft Expansion Leaks

Possible World of Warcraft Expansion Leaks

CONFIRMED: World of Warcraft Shadowlands was confirmed during BlizzCon 2019.

Let’s discuss possible World of Warcraft expansion leaks and theories. We’ve had new Shadowlands leaks which look legit. A few months ago a 4chan leak got the fandom talking about the next expansion. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is being bounced around as a potential expansion idea thanks to the 4chan leak. BlizzCon 2019 is in November and a new expansion announcement will be here before you know it, so we’ll finally receive answers to all of our questions. We’re also getting hints about a possible death-themed expansion from recent patch 8.3 leaks.

The current storyline in World of Warcraft hasn’t been the most popular. Battle for Azeroth began with a mass genocide when Horde Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner burned Teldrassil to the ground. WoW fans are still waiting for Night Elven Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind to get her revenge for Sylvanas ruining her home.

Blizzard also needs to find a way to save Azeroth from her wounds. The end of Legion saw Azeroth being mortally wounded when Sargeras stabbed the planet with his sword. Sargeras is a fallen titan and he’s been focused on destroying Azeroth and the cosmos with his Burning Legion for ages. The Pantheon (titans) put the fallen titan in his place by trapping him to the Seat of the Pantheon. Now, Illidan Stormrage is watching Sargeras ensure he doesn’t escape.

Patch 8.2.5 is out. We know that Wrathion is searching for the Dragon Isles. Magni sends us to go look for the Black Prince, but when we show up to Karazhan he’s already gone. The Black Prince hasn’t shown up in the lore for a while, but his agents are roaming around gaining information though. Visiting the Dragon Isles in a new expansion could definitely be exciting.

Azeroth is also in hot water lately because the Old God N’Zoth is on the loose. During our raid encounter with Queen Azshara in her Eternal Palace, the player character accidentally freed the Old God from his prison. N’Zoth may try to bring back the Black Empire. If the Black Empire were to rise again, then Azeroth would probably enter the darkest age yet.

Possible World of Warcraft Expansion Leaks

New Screenshot and a Raid in Stormwind?

alt="possible world of warcraft expansion leaks - leaked screenshot of stormwind harbor"/>

    Leaked Screenshot of Stormwind Harbor

A new screenshot of Stormwind harbor surfaced last week. It appears to be of Stormwind during a raid or alternate reality, as the ships and NPC’s (non-playable characters) are green and transparent. The water has an interesting shadow effect, and the trees aren’t normal for Stormwind.

The screenshot was posted with a long block of text describing the end of Battle for Azeroth. If this leak is true, then we’ll be doing a raid in Stormwind to reclaim it from Sylvanas, and neither Horde or Alliance faction leaders will make it out alive. This means the final boss of the expansion isn’t Sylvanas, N’Zoth, Queen Azshara, or any other villain. The final villain of Battle for Azeroth is the Horde or the Alliance depending on your faction.

One of the main problems with this leak is some of the current plotlines are missing. Azeroth is wounded and the leak offered no conclusion.Β  Unless Blizzard intends to wrap up that storyline another way? But, regardless it still seems sketchy that no mention was made at all.

Also, the leak is saying that Bolvar Fordragon who is the current Lich King, is going to teleport out of nowhere and kill Lor’themar Theron. Why would Bolvar kill a blood elf he’s never met? Leave a comment if you know why. Maybe there’s something in Warcraft’s vast lore in which I’m missing.

Leaks aren’t fact. Take it with a grain of salt for now because we won’t know if it’s real until BlizzCon 2019. We’ve had some leaks which were true like with the Mists of Pandaria expansion years ago, but most leaks end up being false. Leakers generally take the most discussed speculation within the fandom and compile it together to make a ‘believable’ idea.

Has the New Leak Predicted the Next Expansion?

alt="possible world of warcraft expansion ideas - queen azshara in her eternal palace"/>

According to the leak, the next expansion is taking us to the Shadowlands. During the Stormwind raid, Gallywix escaped the fight. He’ll find High Tinker Mekkatorque in his escape pod and will revive him. Then together they will devise a machine which will take us to the afterlife. This new device will function in a similar manner to the Dalaran Hearthstone, and it will allow you to come and go to the Shadowlands as you please. We’ll receive a new class called Tinker due to their collaboration.

Having a Tinker class would be pretty epic. Imagine grabbing enemies with your robotic arm, or even tossing a grenade their way. Playing a Tinker would be as exciting as playing a Bard, as many fans have requested a musical class for years. But, a Tinker class is exciting too. I’ve always enjoyed crafting unique trinkets with my Gnome Mage who’s an Engineer.

If a machine or device is all we need to enter the Shadowlands, why haven’t we just gone down there and revived the previous heroes? I’d love to have King Varian Wrynn return to the game. Of course, if we start resurrecting heroes, this also means we can bring back villains. Imagine Arthas returning and challenging Bolvar for the Lich King’s throne. I doubt that would ever happen, but it’s fun to think about. Maybe it could make a creative fanfiction.

Now, Gallywix and Mekkatorque working together is an interesting thought. Honestly, I figured they’d hate each other too much to work on anything. But, maybe I’m missing the whole picture? If their goals are to stop Sylvanas, or even to end the Old Gods, this would explain the unlikely pair teaming up. Gallywix is more interested in making money. So I do question if he’d suddenly care about the greater good.

I do recall doing a quest in the Horde War Campaign where Gallywix possibly showed remorse for the Night Elves losing Teldrassil. He mentioned that if he’d never told Sylvanas about the Azerite than Teldrassil would be still standing, but then he shrugged and continued to talk about his money. It was a quest during the Horde War Campaign which led to Gallywix fighting Mekkatorque on an airship in Kul Tiras. The title of the quest is alluding me at the moment though.

Shadowlands Map: Are we Visiting Hades?

alt="possible world of warcraft expansion leaks - leaked photograph of Shadowlands map"/>

    Leaked Photograph of Shadowlands Map

The Shadowlands map first appeared in July. It appears to be from a Blizzard board meeting by the picture. Youtuber Pyromancer created a video on his account about the leak. He was also a guest on Asmongold’s Twitch stream when he discussed this leak. Apparently, a couple of Blizzard employees contacted Pyromancer and gave him all the details. This leak ties into the new Stormwind raid screenshot.

Pyromancer does warn the viewers that most leaks aren’t real. The Shadowlands leak claims we’ll have two new continents which would be the Dragon Isles and the Shadowlands. We’ll meet old heroes. As well as the Old Gods who’re sleeping in Ny’alotha. The leak is claiming that Sylvanas is waging war in the name of death. She has the pact to honor with Helya.

The possible World of Warcraft expansion leak is beginning to look more possible with the more information we get. Especially because some of these leaks are beginning to connect, but they still have important key differences. 4Chan gave us the Age of Darkness leak stating that N’Zoth will release darkness to cover all of Azeroth. The differences include the level squish and a revamp of the Old World. Also, the Age of Darkness leak is claiming that Sylvanas will attack Thunder Bluff in patch 8.3, but the new photo of Stormwind harbor suggests she’s going to take the Alliance capital instead.

Characters in the storyline who are associated with death are getting screen time. So far in Battle for Azeroth, we’ve seen Bwonsamdi (the Loa of Death), Bolvar Fordragon (the current Lich King and Taelia’s father), and Helya. Vol’jin the former Horde warchief died in Legion. He leads the champion (us) on a quest. The goal was to discover who told Vol’jin to make Sylvanas warchief of the Horde. All three of them denied knowing anything about the situation. Bwonsamdi mentioned he had a boss, which suggests there is a God or Goddess of Death.

We’re also getting hints about Elune from this map. There is an Emerald Rifts, Sanctum of Elune, and Elunian Meadows. I’ve always figured she was a Titan or a God-like spirit. Maybe Elune is the Hades (like a Goddess of Death) of WoW? What do you think? Leave a comment with your theories.

Possible World of Warcraft Expansion Leaks: Will Wrathion Find the Dragon Isles?

alt="possible world of warcraft expansion ideas - heart of azeroth vault"/>

The Dragon Isles were supposed to be in Vanilla WoW. They were located north of Lordaeron and west of Quel’thalas. It’s possible that Blizzard could make the next expansion about the dragon flights. Imagine playing a dragon as a hero class. Each Dragonflight has its own unique powers. It just seems cool to imagine controlling a bronze drake and have power over time.

With all the Old God lore recently this brings the black dragon flight into the spotlight. The black Dragonflight which was led by Neltharion (Deathwing), was corrupted by the Old Gods. When the Titans forged Azeroth they gave the black Dragonflight a task. Their job was to protect Azeroth. The Old Gods believed that Neltharion was a perfect candidate to rain destruction upon the world. Eventually, the corruption spread to the entire dragon flight. The Demon Soul was created during the War of the Ancients. It was from that moment that the black Dragonflight became a permanent threat to Azeroth.

Wrathion, the Black Prince, was born free of the Old God’s corruption because his egg was purified. He has been searching for the Dragon Isles. Wrathion could possibly be seeking a way to resist the corruption which has befallen the Black Dragonflight. The Black Prince has Blacktalon Agents throughout the game. These agents are spying on us and on the faction conflict. We can see some of his agents in Nazjatar.

Will we meet the Void Lords?

alt="what is the difference between wow classic and retail wow - draenor"/>

Lately, the void has come up often in the game. It’s a unique concept because light and void must both exist. Void (shadow) is a chaotic substance found in the Great Dark Beyond (the universe). Life is both light and void (shadow). The Void can be controlled, but whispers from the beyond can drive anyone mad. It takes impressive will power not to fall prey to the madness.

Millions of years ago, the Void Lords created the Old Gods to act as a proxy for them. Since the Void Lords require an incredible amount of power to manifest this was their way to have a presence in the mortal realms. We’ve yet to see the Void Lords in-game, but I would imagine they’re large and powerful beings made of shadow. There are Void Lords within the game, but none of them seem to fit the description of what a Void Lord is.

In World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume I, the Void Lords are described as monstrous and composed of pure shadow. Void Lords are driven by an insatiable hunger to devour the universe. They seek to destroy all matter and energy they come across. Naaru which are like angelic beings of light is the exact opposite of void creatures. What’s unique about the Naaru though, is that if one is corrupted it’s turned into a void being.

During Legion Xe’ra, a powerful Naaru tried to force the light’s will by attempting to make Illidan give up the fel. The fel represents chaos and disorder, so it’s the opposite of Arcane which is order. But, Xe’ra’s plan backfired when Illidan blasted her to smithereens. If Xe’ra was using the light to force her will on others, then does this mean the light can be evil too? Maybe Blizzard is heading for moral ambiguity here. Which would mean the light and void are evil depending on how you see it.

We also have whispers from the Old Gods. One of which may pertain to the ‘boy-king’ Anduin Wrynn. The whisper states: “The boy-king serves at the master’s table. Three lies he will offer you.” Is it possible that Anduin is serving a creature from the Void? Maybe Anduin believes he’s following the light and isn’t aware of what is going on.

There is certainly enough material here to have a whole expansion.

Could the next WoW Expansion take us to a New World?

alt="new wow expansion ideas ulduar planetarium"/>

Azeroth isn’t the only world in the game. We know this from adventuring to Outland and it’s the past form which is Draenor. There’s a possibility that Blizzard will have us visit another planet soon. The Moon Goddess Elune has come up often within the story. The Shadowlands map featured several areas referencing Elune. Night Elves and Tauren worship Elune. Both races are practitioners of Druidism. It’sbelieved that Elune is the mother of Cenarius, who’s the patron god of all Druids. As a result, Elune is connected to the Emerald Dream.Β  The Emerald Dream may connect to the Shadowlands.

The Emerald Dream is a spiritual realm, and multiple versions of Azeroth exist there. Some version of Azeroth are unfinished, but never the less the dream still holds the vision of what Azeroth could be. It was created by Freya. Many believe she wove the dream into being from nothing. Freya was a titan-keeper. Her job was to lead their titan-forged army against the Old Gods.Β  They assigned the green dragon aspect, Ysera, with watching over the dream. She became the Dreamer, but was awakened in Cataclysm. The green Dragonflight protects all the Emerald Dream portals scattered throughout Azeroth.

All of this could be leading us to the world Elunaria. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Moon Goddess Elune is a Titan. Eonar, was wounded when Sargeras attacked her with his blade. Eonar then hid on Elunaria in the Elunarian Sanctuary. As the Burning Legion closed in on her hiding place in Legion, she reached out to Magni Bronzebeard, the Speaker of Azeroth, to protect her from harm. Once she was safe, then she joined the rest of the titans. The Titans defeated Sargeras and imprisoned him to the Seat of the Pantheon.

Now, this leads us back to the Moon Goddess Elune and how she could play into the next expansion. During Legion, we had to acquire the Pillars of Creation. One of the pillars was the Tears of Elune. The titans gifted the pillars to the titan-forged keepers to protect Azeroth when it was young.

The Archmage Khadgar believed that Elune created the Prime Naaru during the ordering of light and shadow. Now, this is an interesting thought, because Elune could pop up in either the rumored Shadowlands or Age of Darkness expansions. No matter which leaks and rumors you read, the central theme of exploring life and death, and light and void are prominent. So it’s possible World of Warcraft may be exploring the complexities of life in the next expansion.

What are your thoughts about the possible World of Warcraft expansion leaks? Do any of these rumors seem legit? Feel free to leave a comment below.

World of Warcraft Classic First Week and World Firsts

World of Warcraft Classic first week has been phenomenal. As a result of the massive fan response to WoW Classic’s release on August 27th, Blizzard added new servers and expanded server capacity. The enormous hype led WoW to have over a million viewers on Twitch on Classic’s release day. Also, Blizzard’s stock prices rose 4.7% which equals $51.00 a share. It’s a great time to be a World of Warcraft fan.

As a result of these positive signs, this can only mean good things for WoW going forward. For years the fandom had asked for a return to WoW’s former glory. All fans remember the infamous line uttered by Blizzard President J. Allen Brack during BlizzCon a few years ago, “You think you do, but you don’t.”

It’s a good thing Blizzard reconsidered creating legacy servers. Hopefully, we’ll be able to revisit the Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King expansions someday.

My First Week in WoW Classic

alt="world of warcraft classic first week - dun morogh"/>

I was playing on my server Mankirk while I leveled my Gnome mage, and it was so awesome to see other players helping each other. As soon as I could I started throwing buffs on other players in Kharanos. People were standing in line for quests, and players were offering to create bags for those in need. Its this feeling of community that retail WoW has lacked for a few years.

Now, this isn’t to say that people in retail don’t talk and work together sometimes. I was in an LFR (looking for raid) group the other day, and we were fighting Za’qul and Queen Azshara. We died several times, but our group learned from our mistakes and continued onward until we beat the raid. The experience isn’t like WoW Classic because the realms in retail are interconnected, but there are good players who still play retail, and I enjoyed the Eternal Palace.

WoW Classic has more encounters which make me smile, game-wide the player base became a unit. You could sense the immeasurable love for Warcraft and it’s a fandom. Players stepped in to help when I was in a bind because I was being attacked by too many
mobs. To help out, I started conjuring food and water to give to other adventurers.

    First Level 60

alt="blizzard expands wow classic servers capacity - the barrens"/>

Congratulations to Jokerd for reaching level 60 first. Leveling is a major milestone because of the incredible time commitment. Jokerd reached level 60 after grinding mobs in Western Plaguelands. He played on his Twitch stream for 300,000 viewers. Other players stopped Jokerd from deleting his toon by flooding his mailbox with mail. Method, WoW’s top raiding guild, is hosting a worldwide event, and are streaming players who are in the race to reach level 60. They are partnered with the World Showdown of Esports.

    Ragnaros: The Firelord Defeated

A guild called APES on the EU Gehennas server was the first to defeat Ragnaros. The guild practiced for this event and kept their intentions secret. Players found out the guild was going to try and kill the Firelord on Reddit. Many of the Redditors knew APES and their dedication to achieving World First from private servers.

Most average players won’t enter Molten Core to face Ragnaros for months. Life commitments and work are going to slow many players down. The fact that APES was able to down Ragnaros in only five days is an impressive feat. It’s a testament to their skill and dedication to World of Warcraft. Raids in Vanilla WoW were 40-man, which also adds to the impressiveness of this accomplishment.
