Will Blizzard fix WoW Classic botting problem? Botting is a form of cheating in video games. A bot is a computer that controls a playable character. Bots in WoW can have erratic movements, automatic whispers, and armor which don’t make sense. Generally, you can tell you’re looking at a bot because something about their behavior is off.
Botting is a serious problem in games like World of Warcraft Classic. Cheaters who use bots are able to mine nodes and run multiple dungeons in a day. Every server has an economy, and botters can infiltrate it by selling items on the Auction House that they obtained through dishonest means.
Yesterday, Blizzard said on the official forums, players are limited to 30 instances (dungeon and raid) runs a day in Classic. The restriction applies to all of your characters per realm. Instead of Blizzard banning the actual bots, they’ve decided to punish the regular player base instead. But, this may not be a real restriction as Blizzard made an April Fool’s Day joke about this a few years ago. Let’s examine the botting issue further, and discuss how Blizzard can fix it.

Will Blizzard Fix WoW Classic Botting Problem?
On June 17th, 2020, Twitch Streamer Asmongold decided to bust bots in retail WoW and WoW Classic. He and many players visited various dungeons and reported bots.
These bots were automatically teleported to the dungeons and running inside. Many of the bots were even wearing the exact same armor. You could tell that they were bots because there were hundreds of copies of the same character. Surprisingly, retail WoW had more bots than WoW Classic during Asmongold’s test.
Blizzard has mentioned before that banning individual bots is complicated. The company has said that preventing exploitative behavior is more effective than banning the bots. Usually, botters are banned in waves. Botters will often use stolen accounts to perform their illegal activities. Blizzard is asking WoW Classic players to get authenticators, and the company will give them four extra bag slots as a reward. Despite the fact, this goes against the #nochanges that most WoW Classic players have requested, an authenticator may protect more accounts and hopefully help to combat botting.

How Can Blizzard Fix Botting?
Blizzard should respond to player reports because oftentimes our reports are ignored. Bots are usually controlled by a computer program, so maybe Blizzard can find a way to ban the program? The company shouldn’t punish regular players. Most WoW Classic players are playing the game the right way. The integrity of the game is at stake here.
Most WoW Classic fans asked for a return to the past because they wanted WoW to be more rewarding. Grinding to level 60, gearing, and then participating in raids and battlegrounds is what players want. Botters cheapen the experience because there is no effort on their part. A computer is playing a game for them.
Botters mostly focus on collecting materials to sell, but some of them do interact with other players. If you, unfortunately, duel a bot, you’ll most likely lose, and then you’ll question what happened?
Final Thoughts

Should there be a time skip after World of Warcraft Shadowlands? WoW Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, did an interview last month, where he mentioned that time flowed differently in the Shadowlands. The interview took place in mid-May and Hazzikostas was interviewed by WoWChakra on Twitch.
During the interview, Hazzikostas discussed many aspects of the upcoming Shadowlands expansion. He talked about covenants, tier sets, story, Torghast, and more. This opinion piece will focus on the time skip rumors. The Warcraft community has debated whether the game would benefit from a time skip for years. There are many who would love a Warcraft IV. Some fans have even suggested a complete reboot titled WoW 2 on a completely new engine.
There’s no doubt that a time skip would breathe new life into the game, but is a time skip a good idea? World of Warcraft is a fifteen-year-old game. Part of WoW’s success was due to having an already existing IP with the Warcraft franchise of games. A time skip could introduce new lore, but it could also alienate fans because there would be nothing familiar for them to grasp. Let’s examine the time skip debate in more detail.

How Would A Time Skip Benefit Azeroth?
Should there be a time skip after World of Warcraft Shadowlands? We’re examining the possibility the next expansion after Shadowlands, which would be patch 10.0, would feature a time skip. A time skip would be exciting. Assuming enough time has passed, we could see some areas in Azeroth healed.
They can finally rebuild Teldrassil and the Undercity. There’s a chance that Gilneas could return to its former glory. Some of the destruction caused by the Cataclysm could be completely healed. The zones probably won’t look exactly the way they did in Vanilla WoW, but it’d be nice to walk through Thousand Needles instead of swimming through it.
A time skip after World of Warcraft Shadowlands would give key characters a chance to grow and change. Maybe we’ll actually see Anduin with real facial hair. Heroes like Thrall have children, and it’ll be interesting to see the children older and taking a leading role in the plot. There’s also a chance that some heroes or villains could be retired. For example, a ten or fifteen-year time skip could cause some characters to pass away.
During this interview with WoWChakra, WoW Game Director Ion Hazzikostas was asked about the way time runs in the Shadowlands. WoWChakra asked him, “How does the time go by in the Shadowlands and how does it affect our characters?”
Hazzikostas gave a very intriguing response.
“The answer is complicated. Time is a construct of order and structure. Things in the Shadowlands are more chaotic. It’s similar to how time moves in a dream and there’s not necessarily a fixed amount of time. Time isn’t necessarily 3x faster or 10x faster. We’ll have to see how it affects our characters when they come out the other end,” Ion Hazzikostas, World of Warcraft Game Director
We can’t ignore the bad reasons for a time skip after World of Warcraft Shadowlands. A time skip would breathe new life into the game, but it could also create new problems. Imagine the number of plot holes if the current writing team doesn’t wrap up plot lines.
As a player, I won’t be happy if I don’t take part in important events in the world of Azeroth. I’ve played WoW since Wrath and I’m invested in its future. A short time skip of one or two years might not be too bad if it’s mostly used to rebuild Teldrassil, Undercity, and Gilneas, but I have a feeling the game would jump further than that.
I don’t want the game world to be magically saved. Our playable characters are the heroes. So it’s important we take part in whatever is happening. Also, I don’t want to see Anduin become ‘Manduin’ and suddenly have a family and become a legendary king and epic fighter if we didn’t get to see it happen.
Also, shipping is fun. If there’s a time skip, there’re going to be new couples, and we won’t get to see them fall in love. If you guys haven’t checked out the new short story, “A Moment in Verse” by Madeleine Roux and featuring the characters Lor’themar and Thalyssra you’re missing out!
The point I’m trying to make is that I play WoW because I enjoy living within a virtual world. I don’t want to miss a single minute of it. So if the WoW storytellers chose to time skip, I hope they come up with a creative and satisfying way to catch us up on Azeroth’s world.

This is a personal note from me regarding the current news:
I’m happy Blizzard is taking a stand for Black Lives Matter. As an African American, living in the USA isn’t easy. I’ve experienced racism on a daily basis and it doesn’t get any easier. When we talk about the privilege some individuals have, we’re not referring to money or status, we’re talking about being able to live without fear. I’ve never experienced the luxury of visiting a store without being followed by workers, nor have I had the privilege of visiting the doctor without being refused treatment, although the doctor could see my deadly bug bite. Sadly, that’s not the last time I’ve lived through that kind of frustration and pain.
Throughout the years, I’ve unfortunately experienced racism while playing World of Warcraft. Usually, I don’t tell anyone I’m black when I’m playing, but it’s very disheartening to be in a major city and see players talk badly about my race. A dungeon and raid group is worse. I had a friend years ago who couldn’t take it, and he went off on the tank. He cursed him out and logged off in anger. Sadly, I couldn’t blame him, the tank was throwing around the N-word like it was candy.
My personal note continued.
These privileged players assume no African Americans play their game. They generalize my culture and assume we’re all lazy, unemployed, and ignorant. I’m going to tell you now that it’s not true. Most of my family is college-educated and own businesses. None of us live within the inner-city, and none of them rely on the government for assistance. It’s appalling to me when these same people say they want to keep politics out of their game. Then they complain when Blizzard wants to add more diversity. Why is my existence a political statement? Where can I relax and just enjoy a game?
I have two brothers and every night I’m afraid if they get off work after dark because I don’t want the police to mess with them. When I was a little girl, police stormed into my house and frightened us awake, flashing lights and pointing guns at us during the middle of the night. They had the wrong house, and thank goodness they didn’t shoot, because I either wouldn’t be alive today, or I’d be telling a very different story. My mom said it wasn’t the first time that it happened, but it’s luckily the only incident I remembered. So please, have the heart to listen to others. Many use the phrase “All lives matter” because they feel as if we’re saying our lives are more important than everyone else’s. We’re not trying to say that your life doesn’t matter, we just wish that everyone thought our lives mattered too.

I wanted to write a message to Warcraftlover readers because today, May 31, 2020, marks the first anniversary of Warcraftlover. Thank you for helping the blog have such a successful first year. Most people told me not to do this. Blogging is a career that can take time to see the fruits of your labor. I understood their concern, but I’ve always wanted to be a writer and help others. Being a blogger has allowed me to do both things I love.
My journey as a writer began with me publishing novels. When those proved to be harder to promote than I realized, I knew I had to make a change. So I decided to try blogging. I haven’t regretted that choice. The first year was full of sleepless nights, 12 hour days, and barely any vacation. When I’m not writing a post the blog still requires my attention. For the blog to run smoothly, I have to do technical stuff in the background. I’ve also connected with other bloggers throughout the year as we helped each other grow our blogs.
A message to Warcraftlover readers continued
Owning my blog makes me a small business owner. So when the economy tanked in March 2020 I was terrified. My blog earns revenue through product sales and advertising. All of my product sales stopped for March. The only thing the government could offer was loans. My business is still new and I couldn’t afford a loan. So I had to soldier on and hope for the best.
Throughout the past year, I’ve also been dealing with my health problems. There were times I was so sick that working on my blog was nearly impossible. No matter what though I tried to pull through and make sure I posted at least once per week. I’ve built my business from the ground up and I refuse to let it fail.
BlizzCon 2020 has been canceled. A few weeks ago, Saralyn Smith, the Executive Producer of BlizzCon, posted a note regarding the convention due to the current pandemic. At that time, Smith wasn’t sure if having BlizzCon would be possible. The COVID-19 pandemic is still a global crisis. A mass gathering of thousands of people could put everyone at risk. She finally gave us confirmation in her update on BlizzCon today.
BlizzCon is usually where major announcements happen. A convention is also a great place for Blizzard fans to meet. The convention is home to major esports competitions. Also, a lot of content creators usually go to the convention to check out new content and share it with their fans.
Smith said in her update that Blizzard may host a virtual event early next year. She sounds confident that BlizzCon will happen in the future, but that 2020 isn’t the right time.
Also, WoW Classic fans may have a Classic Burning Crusade announcement coming soon. Blizzard Entertainment sent out surveys a few weeks ago asking fans about the Burning Crusade expansion.
The Classic fandom has been dividedon whether the Burning Crusade expansion should come next, or if WoW Classic should have a Classic plus. There’s also been a section of the WoW Classic community that wanted #nochanges, as they wanted WoW Classic to be a faithful recreation of Vanilla WoW. Regardless of where you fall in the WoW Classic debate, no BlizzCon means that any potential announcement will have to wait.

The Creators Behind Small World of Warcraft Continued
Small World of Warcraft was created by Game Designer Philippe Keyaerts. He lives in Brussels with his wife and son. Keyaerts studied Mathematics and Computer Science at University where he earned a Master’s Degree. Although Keyaerts is a huge gamer when he’s not playing games, he’s teaching mathematics to his foreign students and he enjoys cooking.
Keyaerts said creating the game was about intimately mixing the spirit of Small World with the Warcraft universe so that both worlds reflect on each other.
Small World Underground was the game that first introduced the concept of Legendary places and artifacts. Keyaerts also introduced a game mechanism that allows traveling between distant places.
“The creation of a game always comes from the desire to play a game that doesn’t exist. I turn and kick it around in my head for some time, then I draft a first game prototype, which I play test alone by myself,” said Philippe Keyaerts, Game Designer. “Then I playtest the game with friends – I always try to give them a game prototype that works. Then, I tweak, and test, and tweak again and again until I get a great game – it is a long and difficult process.”
As a standalone game, Small World of Warcraft is designed for 2 to 5 players. The game can be completed in 40 to 80 minutes. Small World of Warcraft includes 6 double-sided boards, 16 Warcraft Race banners, 182 Matching Race tokens, and 15 Murloc tokens.
The game also includes 20 Unique Special Power badges, 5 Player Summary Sheets, 12 Artifact and Legendary place markers, 10 Mountains, 9 Wisp Walls, 4 Harmony tokens, 12 Bombs, 1 Champion, 10 Forts, 2 Military Objectives, 5 Beasts, 6 Watch Towers, 110 Victory coins, 1 Custom Reinforcement die, 1 Game turn track, 1 Game turn marker, 1 rulebook, and 1 Team Variant Rules sheet.

World of Warcraft Shadowlands release date will be near the holidays. On May 5th, Blizzard Entertainment had it’s first quarter 2020 earnings conference call. So far 2020 has been a great year for Blizzard and World of Warcraft. Both Classic WoW and modern WoW saw substantial growth during the pandemic due to stay-at-home orders. Classic WoW saw an increase in the East, whereas modern WoW saw an increase here in the West.
Blizzard Entertainment President J. Allen Brack praised the development team for their hard work during the pandemic. The WoW development team had to begin working from home. This meant they had to set-up complicated computer equipment in order to create the game we all love. Collaborative group work is harder to do from home, but the team has found a way to get it done. Despite the difficulties caused by the recent worldwide crisis, Brack said that Shadowlands is still on track to be released in Quarter four of this year. Quarter four includes the months of November and December. So we can expect to see the new expansion around the holiday season.
The company has also helped health care workers during the crisis. Chief Executive Officer, Bobby Kotick, explained how Blizzard Entertainment has provided health care professionals with a variety of resources. ‘These resources include faster and more effective testing and the use of tools like convalescent blood transfusion as a possible method of immunization.’ He also said the company has increased direct support for military families by millions of dollars.

Financial Successes and Social Misses
World of Warcraft has seen continued success since the release of Classic WoW in 2019. Classic WoW renewed interest in the franchise. The game has seen a mix of returning and new players. Modern WoW which the fandom refers to as ‘retail WoW’ has faced criticism for its story, gameplay, and lack of social interaction.
Despite all of those problems, both Classic WoW and modern WoW have shown impressive financial growth during Blizzard’s first quarter. Chief Financial Officer and President of Emerging Businesses, Dennis Durkin, spoke positively about Blizzard’s increased revenue.
“Blizzard revenue was $452 million, increasing 31% year-over-year, reflecting strong growth for World of Warcraft and the release of Warcraft III: Reforged in the quarter. Operating income was $197 million. Blizzard’s operating margin was 44%, significantly higher year-over-year primarily due to strong revenue growth, “said Dennis Durkin, Chief Financial Officer and President of Emerging Businesses.
Besides the World of Warcraft Shadowlands release date, there’s also a new interview going around. This week, a recent New York Times interview with former Blizzard president and co-founder Mike Morhaime has been getting attention.
Morhaime was president of Blizzard Entertainment until 2018, but he left the company the following year. New York Time’s Seth Schiesel interviewed Morhaime during the digital GamesBeat Summit in April. During the thirty-minute interview, Morhaime discussed the game industry, MMO’s, and what he’s been up to since he left Blizzard. Here are his thoughts regarding the social aspect of modern WoW.
“As World of Warcraft evolved over the years it actually became less social because in an effort to achieve more accessibility we had to remove some of the reasons why you had to play with the same group of people over and over. It takes away some of the reasons why some people play and why they would want to continue playing,” said Mike Morhaime, co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.
Morhaime also addressed concerns that the fandom has about the sense of community missing from the company. The recent controversies from the Blitzchung incident to the Warcraft III Reforged disappointment have left fans wondering if the things that made Blizzard special have eroded.
“The games and the players and community are the most important things. If they (blizzard) can keep prioritizing those things they’ll continue doing right by those players. Players need to let them know when they don’t think they are,” said Mike Morhaime, co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.
During the conference call, the current president of Blizzard Entertainment, J. Allen Brack, didn’t just discuss the World of Warcraft Shadowlands release date. He also addressed the concerns related to the social aspect of modern WoW. His comments are interesting in light of the recent interview with Morhaime, and especially because Classic WoW and modern WoW are essentially two different gamesat this point.
“It’s been fortunate to be an engineer (on World of Warcraft) as a very social experience and that is true today as they were launched. Over time, we listen to the feedback from the community, and the game has evolved to what we now call the modern game, which has really expanded the breadth and the depth of gameplay as well as making it easier to kind of fine friends, group up, make progress or play alone, all within the social environment,” said J. Allen Brack, President of Blizzard Entertainment.
World of Warcraft and the gaming industry has evolved over time. There’s a possibility that had modern WoW not changed then World of Warcraft wouldn’t be online right now. Kaivax posted on the official World of Warcraft forumstoday that the Pathfinder achievement won’t be required to earn flight in Draenor and the Broken Isles. Players will learn flight when they reach level 30 with expert flying. Mount collectors can still earn the Soaring Skyterrormount by completing the Draenor Pathfinder. Broken Isles, Pathfinder Part One will still reward players with increased mount speed in the Broken Isles.

Revendreth: Place of Pride
Blizzard Entertainment also released a preview for the Revendreth zone and Venthyr covenant. Allying with the Venthyr covenant and contributing to their cause will reward you with a mount, a pet, Venthyr-forged armor, and back attachments. The spell Door of Shadows will allow you to wend through the shadows and appear at the targeted location.
Joining one of the four covenants will allow you to create a soulbind. Each covenant will feature an epic Covenant Campaign and will grant champions access to that Covenant Sanctum.
Revendreth is where the prideful souls end up. The zone features a new raid within Castle Nathria and a new dungeon called Halls of Atonement.
Revendreth: Place of Pride Continued
Sire Denathrius, the Master of Revendreth asks for your aid because the vampiric Venthyr is experiencing a rebellion due to the anima drought which is plaguing the Shadowlands. You’ll have to be careful though because the Venthyr don’t always keep their word and they could end up being formidable foes.
When souls arrive in Revendreth they all receive a Sinstone. Inscribed on the stone are any misdeeds you’ve committed in life and your true name. Souls must keep the Sinstone’s location a secret as they work to purge any terrible things etched upon the stone.
Revendreth has seven districts ruled by a Harvester. The Harvesters are powerful Venthyr who encourage spirits to repent for their past sins. Reformed spirits are given a choice. They either return to Oribos to be sent on to another afterlife, or they can remain in Revendreth and become one of the Venthyr. Spirits that resist redemption are banished to the Maw.

Revendreth Continued
Next in the World Of Warcraft Shadowlands Pathfinder changes and Revendreth preview we’ll take a glance at the inhabitants of the zone. The denizens of Revendreth include the Venthyr, the Stone Legion, Dredger, Sire Denathrius, Prince Renathal, and General Draven.
Venthyr: The vampiric Venthyr punish the unworthy. They attempt to reform the sinful souls the Arbiter sends them. Reformed souls can be sent to another afterlife. Some of them become Venthyr instead.
Stone Legion: Stoneborn is brutish gargoyles within the Stone Legion. Gargons are like monsters in nightmares. Dredbats patrol the skies and alert their brethren of intruders. The Stonewright created the Stone Legion. They infused the Stone Legion with Anima. As a result of fighting by their masters side, the Stoneborn serve their masters as soldiers with a sense of loyalty.
Dredger: Dredger is the workforce that serves the Venthyr. They come from the primordial muck. These servants serve the Venthyr by performing menial tasks like sweeping floors and sacrificing themselves for entertainment.
Revendreth Denizens Continued
Sire Denathrius: Next in the World Of Warcraft Shadowlands Pathfinder changes and Revendreth preview, we’ll disucss the master of Revendreth, Sire Denathrius. He resides within his fortress Castle Nathria. Sire Denathrius created the Venthyr in his likeness and he forged them from the souls of the redeemed. He’s an ancient being and is one of the most powerful in the Shadowlands. The ruler of Revendreth calls upon Azeroth’s champions to help him put a stop to the rebellion that could destroy the Venthyr’s way of life.
Prince Renethal: Prince Renethal was the first Venthyr. The prince was once a popular courtier within his master’s court, but once the anima dried up that changed. Prince Renethal is leading a rebellion against Sire Denathrius. He believes their master is responsible for the anima drought. But, is Prince Renethal any different than the tyrant he wants to overthrow?
General Draven: The general was once the leader of the Stoneborn, but he joined Prince Renethal’s rebellion to fight against Sire Denathrius.

The WoW Shadowlands alpha Torghast interview gave us information about the alpha this week. Torghast is the endless dungeon located within the Maw. In the Shadowlands the Maw is similar to a hell-like place. Twitch streamer Towelliee interviewed World of Warcraft Game Designer Paul Kubit on his April 17th stream. Kubit has worked on WoW for 10 years. Each time you run Torghast it will change. Progressing further within the dungeon will allow you to acquire materials to craft legendaries.
Torghast is important from a story perspective. The dungeon is where the Forge of Domination is located. Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination were crafted at the forge. Icecrown Citadel may have a connection to Torghast because the dungeon mirrored the citadel in the Shadowlands trailer. Also, the Jailer has used Torghast as an eternal prison for the worst souls.

WoW Shadowlands Alpha Torghast Interview
Interview With WoW Game Designer Paul Kubit
WoW game designer Paul Kubit gave an hour-long interview about Torghast and the Maw. He said we’ll be able to enter Torghast shortly after we hit level 60. Kubit said there will be things we’ll have to learn about some things first.
Torghast’s keys can be infinitely farmed. Players can look forward to updated floors, legendaries, themes and ecologies throughout the expansion. Torghast will have new technology that will scale mobs by role and spec.
During the WoW Shadowlands Alpha Torghast Interview, we learned that characters who’ve died recently within the lore may appear within the Maw. The Maw is where Torghast is located and it’s an endgame zone. The Eye of the Jailer debuff will give you a limited amount of time in the zone. You can spend Anima to remove the debuff which would allow you to stay in the zone longer. When you’re in the Maw you’ll be able to decide what your objective will be. So you can decide if you’d like to collect souls for your covenant or kill a rare.

Blizzard forces us to grind rep for Pathfinder (flying), to unlock allied races, and to gear our characters. All MMORPGs are going to be a grind, but there are ways to make your life easier.
If you’re new to grinding reputation, always remember to do your World Quests and Dailies every day. Form groups with other players to knock out the harder world bosses in the zone, because defeating them give you more rep.

Attend the Darkmoon Faire
During the first week of each month, the Darkmoon Faire is open to fairgoers. The Darkmoon Faire is an Azeroth staple. Before Cataclysm, the fair would travel around Azeroth and set-up shop. Now, we can visit the Darkmoon Faire at Darkmoon Isle.
For years I’d stopped attending the fair because not much had changed. Boredom stopped me from realizing that the fire could help me.
So, why should you attend the fair you might ask? It can’t be because of the fried frog legs, or maybe it’s just fun to be blasted from a cannon.
But, the man reason to attend the fair is the 10% reputation bonus you receive from riding the carousel or the roller coaster. If you play the games at the booths, you can earn prize tickets. Use these tickets to purchase a Darkmoon Top Hat which also gives you a 10% experience gain, but remembers the hat can only warn during the fair, afterward, it disappears from your bags.
That 10% experience buff is huge, especially if you’re having trouble moving that reputation needle. Just remember the buffs only last an hour, so be sure to watch your timer before you do your World Quests and Dailies.

Best Ways To Gain Reputation Fast In WoW: Buy a Contract
In Battle for Azeroth, we do a lot of World Quests to earn a reputation. Some reputations are slower to earn than others. Most World Quests only award about 75 reputation points. But, in order to earn Pathfinder (flying), you need to reach Revered with several factions, which equates to thousands of reputation points needed.
To make the reputation grind easier, you can invest in a contract. Contracts can be purchased off the auction house, and are valid for seven days. Using a contract requires you to be level 120 and at least friendly with the faction. It’ll allow you to earn a reputation for a faction (like the Rustbolt Resistance) with every World Quest on Kul Tiras and Zandalar.
Buying a contract might cost you a lot of gold, but it’s worth it with the time you’ll save.
Holidays are a great way to get a reputation faster. The major holidays in the game usually have some way for you to apply a 10% reputation buff. For example, Hallow’s End will give you a 2-hour buff if you honor the Wickerman.
Don’t Forget World Quests and Dailies
Don’t forget to do your World Quests and Dailies every day. In Nazjatar we have follower quests so it’s helpful to remember to grab a follower each time you go out.
If you kill rares you’ve never killed before, then you’ll also earn more reputation points. Feel free to download the addon HandyNotes to help you find rares easier in Nazjatar and Mechagon. Each rare can drop about 75 rep points.
Also, if you play a human character, they receive an extra 10% bonus to reputation because of their Diplomacyracial. You could use your human character to earn reputation because the Pathfinder achievement can be earned across all of your toons.
